Safety Car
Lets see...drivers from F1, Cart, IRL, Sprint Cars, Road Racers, and guys who came up from short tracks all competing in identical cars. Sounds like NASCAR Sprint Cup (it is all about the drivers anyway, right DW?). /:\

Burning Brakes
I watched them auction the cars off on Saturday. Thought one would make a good track car, but they sold for more than I expected. A couple were less than $30k, but a couple were over $70k.

I went to both days of the auction. There were a lot of crazy over bidding on tools and equipment. For example a Makita cut off saw that was $169 new sold for $249. Another great example was 194 cases of Mobil 1 Synthetic 15w-50 sold for $45 a case, that is only 6 bottles per case, I think the bidder thought he was buying cases of 12.
It was great to talk to the shop guys who have been there since the begininng. Talked to someone about the Carbon rotors ($6k new) and beautiful sets of Brembos. It was sad to see the faces of the shop folks watch equipment get sold off.
The signed IROC photos sold for a premium too. An Earnhart driving suit went for $1700. I was worth missing a day of work, but then again, anything is better than being at work.....
