Default MN Autocross

Hey I'm not sure what else to try. I moved to Minnesota from South Dakota. In SD I autocrossed my camaro a handful of times.

Now that I'm in MN I want to autocross my new vette I traded the Camaro in for. I found the MN Autosports Club webpage at:

http://forum.mnautox.com/forums/

I also found a list of upcoming events. With the first autocross race scheduled for early May. However, they are not responding to my emails and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to post in their forum.

I'm not sure if I need to purchase a helmet and what other equipment they may require. Anybody participate in MN Autocross that would be willing to point me in the right directions?

Thanks!

I left a message with a guy that is very active in MAC. He doesn't run a vette but knows the ins and outs of the club.

Sweet thanks! I go to Souix Falls on a pretty regular basis. I lived in SD for 5 years and to be honest like it much better down there but just cannot find a high paying engineering job in the area. Hince I live in the twin cities.

Thanks for the help guys. I got it figured out and will be competing at Event 1 at Valley Fair on May 3rd through MN Autosports Club.

No problem i'm hopeing to make it up to the Mac for a few events just depends on how the farming and time goes this year and such so mabey i will see ya there or mabey i'll see you down here for a event it would be nice to see another c5 out there usually there is only 2 of us at the events cause the local vette club guys don't care for the local car club guys oh well. Good luck and most importantly have fun the vettes a blast on the AX course

They also have events in WI right across the boarder. IA is a little far but has a very health auto-x clubs.

Just a idea.

WI may be an even better option. Do you have contact information over there? I live only a couple miles from Hudson.

And yes I cannot wait to autocross. I got this car and am scared to even attempt to see what it's limitations are on the road. My Z28 was a blast cause you could find the limit and hold it. It too though would get in you trouble in a hurry. But I think this vette is in a whole new league.

Yeah it is also a shame that more vette owners don't actually USE their car. In searching for mine I wanted a little higher miles so cause I like to tinker around and it was cheaper to pickup the car. I had an incredibly hard time finding even a 10 year old vette with any miles on it.

OK so I went to check out one of the MN Autocross events down in Rosemount last Sunday. The folks down there were friendly, helpful, and all.

However, I raced in Rapid City, SD before... as well as Detroit Michigan for FSAE. Yet I had NEVER seen so many people racing in one location. I was really turned off by that.

Anybody know of a small group perhaps in WI by Hudson that gets together and races. I am not much for spending the day in the hot sun just to maybe get the chance to turn a few laps in my car.

I may have stuck around anyways on Sunday but it looked like mostly all young high-schoolers running ricers. That's cool but just not a crowd I would enjoy hanging out with.

I want a small group of people maybe 50 at most that setup races where you can actually get runs in in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe even a drag strip that I could run on around here although I'm more interested in seeing what my car can do in the corners.

Last weekend Suburban Corvettes had Brainerd Int'l rented for 3 days. You would have gotten in 14 runs in a low speed autox on Sat. and 14 runs on a full lap high speed autox on Sun. plus all day Friday was lapping. Less than 40 cars. This event has been run annually for over 25 years.

The Midwestern Corvette Society out of Sioux City, IA is hosting an event the 14th and 15th of June. It's a really great event, and great people that host it!
