Default DRM Radiator w/ cooler install price?

Hey guys,

I am at school now and can't work on the car myself.

I called today to have a shop quote the work for the install on my DRM radiator. They said $500 because you need to drop the header on one side......

Is this what other people have paid to get this put in? Seems WAY WAY high to me.

Not sure about the header comment, but I agree seems too high. Post up your city and maybe another member can suggest a different shop.

I have a very hard time imagining how those to disparate parts can be even mentioned in their quote, sounds like to me.

I could be wrong but I doubt it.

Even dropping a header is not that hard!

Seems high too me also! I installed one in my C4 and didn't have to drop either header. I wouldn't think you would on the C5 either. Hope that helps...........

call DRm and ask for a rough estimate in man hr. to get some clue how many it is. Any shop manual would tell hr. on R&R a radiator

Since this has internal oil cooler they probably want to drop the header to run the lines. Its a tight squeeze but it can be done without dropping the header. You should have them Themotec (Heat sleeve) the lines that run along the block because it real close to the headers. Radiant heat coming off the headers baking the stainless steel lines defeats the purpose of the oil cooler.

Good luck

Ok,
Here are my view on what is going on.

500 dollar bills are not any fun, but if they include a oil change, new antifreeze and etc then it's a pretty good deal.

If you find a better deal make sure that you are getting everything that the 500 dollar shop is going to do.

We charge 300 dollars for a install because it is a 3 hour project for our guys. Or less depending on what else we are doing to the car.

If you aren't happy paying that kinda money, please let me know, because I know a lot of different shops across the world!!!
