I just bought one a couple weeks back...seems like the price is the same everywhere. You can get discounted pricing if you buy a combo deal with the transponder and the blind apex display unit.

Hey John -
I've been thinking about getting into NASA TT too. Were you at MSR Cresson? What were you running - TTA?
How'd it go? Any tips or suggestions?

Hi Scott,
Yes. I was at Cresson and had a blast. My car spec'ed out in TTA and I ran with that group but, since I didn't have a transponder, I didn't get laps times.
Since this was my first event with NASA, by rights I couldn't compete this time since you can’t get your TT license until they check you out. They watched me for the first couple of sessions and signed me off at the end of the first day.
There’s a great group of folks running TT in the Texas Region. There were 4 Corvettes last weekend; 2 heavily modified in TTU and 2 slightly modified in TTA. There’s also a 350Z and a Mustang in TTA. I think there’s a total of somewhere between 12 and 19 total currently in Texas TT spread out across a half dozen classes .
It’s really not hard to get in and seems to be a natural next step from DE. All you really need to do is contact the Texas NASA TT Director (Mike Allen) via email. This web site has a link:
http://nasa-tt.com/Regions .
The material you need to classify your car and complete your license application is on line at the NASA website as well.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions.
Look forward to seeing you at the track!

Now that's funny. In the time it took me to write that reply to Scott about the event you replied......
Scott - Mike has one of the Corvettes in TTU.
Mike - Had a great time and I'm looking forward to TWS. See you there.

Sent you an email John.
Hi Mike. I'm looking forward to getting in TT.
It's good to see NASA doing some events out West. I live in Midland. TWS is about 9 hour drive for me when pulling a trailer. Houston even further. I can make Cresson in 5 hours. Not sure a about Eagles Canyon yet.
I'll see about doing TWS in August or Eagles Canyon in October.
Going to EC at the end of this month. Looks like an interesting track.

Good deal as these things don't pop up used very often. don't know this guy, but if you want a transponder, I'd check it out.

I'm also a newly set up TT participant. Sent my signed off form in yesterday. I'll be running in TTA, at around 18 points in, if I can ever get some Toyos! I need a transponder too, since they don't seem to have any available to rent. I wonder if NASA Texas would consider a group purchase, with rentals offsetting the cost?
The NASA crowd was very nice and supportive, and I look forward to learning the fast way around all the Texas regional venues.

transponders
From what I know, TT will be the first to get transponders before hpde. but for the price of renting a year, you can buy one. When you get your own, you set up an account with mylaps.com to see all your times
