At Speed View of Sebring Course
I won a raffle drawing for a hot lap at Sebring this past weekend and then was even luckier to get three laps which is almost unheard of. Please ignore my commentary during the rides; I was still in shock and awe from winning the ride and obviously I had a big (SEG) on my face the entire time. It's quite obvious that I will not be going into broadcast journalism when I retire.
The car was a 2008 VR Coupe with an 6-speed manual and Z-51 suspension. I think it had the NPP exhaust but I never checked after the ride was over; listen to the sound at WOT and decide for yourself.
Unfortunately, we were the last car in the three car procession behind a Porsche 911 and Audi R8; otherwise I think we would have been able to go faster. I looked at the speedo during the first lap and it looks as if the needle is somewhere around the 110 to 120 mph mark. The third lap was the fastest .
These are my first attempts at making and uploading videos after several hours of muddling through the software to learn how to produce mpeg files from the camcorder file format. There are no cool graphics, text or music; I haven’t gotten that far yet. The videos are best experienced in full screen mode even though it loses some sharpness.

If you ever have the opportunity take a hot lap ride, make sure to take your video camera to relive the experience whenever you want.

Yeah that is cool. I got to take a similar ride with Peter Revson's sister Jenifer in Peter's, Penske built AMC Javlin Champion winning Trans Am car on Sunday Morning. Of course, I was sitting on the floor on the passenger side and only had the roll cage to hang on to. Of course we were going a bit slower, but with as loud as an unmuffled TA car is, it was still a blast from the past.
I was working for a team that brought out five historic trans am cars for an exhibition race on Friday. All told, we had 20 Trans Am cars in our group ranging from the mid 60's and early 70's.

Excellent videos and audio quality. The driver's narrative really added to it.
Now you just need to follow through on your wish and get to one of the tracks in your area!
Thanks for sharing, and have a good one,
Mike
