Default C5 Z06 Rear wheels on C6 w/ 315's Pics

I finally got em on and will be running at Putnam Park tomorrow.

I know there has been much discussion on this so I thought I would share my pics.

18 x 10.5s square, C5 Z06 rear wheels with Hoosier 315's

We did raise the car just a bit from the max lowering position about 1/2 inch for some clearance, Danny Popp installed new bushings, (much stiffer and off center) all the way round as well.

Normal driving, no rubbing at all. Will find out on Sat and post the results of the fitment. I am going to mark all 4 tires inside and out to locate any rubbing if it does happen. So far, we have not touched the inner fender lip near the top of the tire but may round it off a bit more if needed.

New C5 Brackets and rotors as well and of course, Danny's special allignment.

My thanks to Danny Popp who put some serious hours in on the car this week, including a late night last night on his Birthday

BTW, this is now the official 10/10ths Motorsports track car. What do you think of the new colors and markings??

Why C5 brakes? I'm out of the loop. Stock brakes won't work with the rims or something?

Less cracking due to drilled rotors, stop just as good and about 1/4 of the cost of the Z51 rotors

Didn't happen although we had a couple good sessions once it dried out.

As far as the fitment, no reason to get pics cuz

Absolutely no rubbing at any time on the track. Some close tolerances but the 315s on the 18x105's could not have worked better. I could not have been happier with them

Only ran 1 good session on them and took them off to heat cycle but the next event should be warmer and faster.

Thanks Danny for the set-up.

How much clearance from the rotor face to the wheel spokes? Those sure look to fit a lot better than I had expected! The front seem to stick out about the same, maybe a touch less, than my 18x11 C6 fitment CCWs.

I definitely rub with my 295 fronts. And I rub a bit at full lock. How does your car do in the paddock? Did you have to install sterring limiters?

You run hard I think they will rub on top. How much spacer is there fender to tire? Throw some painter tape underneath the fender to check.

Danny put the same tires on my car. Broke them in on the back roads and a church parking lot Friday. The tires and suspension mods that Danny made are awesome.

The only tire rub was on hard turn ins when the tire hit the Speed Lingerie attachment plate. Once this is off, tire rub shouldn't be a problem. BTW, with the 1050# front spring and 850# rear spring, body movement in relation to the tires is minimized.

John,
Was not running as hard as I normally due at Putnam due to the cold and certainly not to the level of most of you guys but not really expecting it with the clearances I have. Was running low 1:21s and usually run low 1:19s with the old set up and 295s.
All the new bushings etc. have stiffened things up a bit etc.

do need more camber though as I got some wear on the ourside shoulder of the tires. -2.5 now and will most likely increase that.

WNeal - that looks great!
What springs and anti roll bars are you running?
What did you do to pacify the electronics with respect to tire sizes and lack of tire pressure sensors?
The z51 brakes would have still fit under the 18" wheels, correct?

Default An also ran follow up.

I had the pleasure of running with Bill at Putnam park this weekend. I also ran the C5 Z06 rear wheels (10.5 x 18 speedlines) on all 4 corners with Toyo RA1 305/35 18. My car is not as low as Bill's but I did have some work done to the suspension in the Raft science lab. I don't have any pictures of the wheels on the car but here are some pics of the front wheel well and the 2 extremely minor rub marks I could find. I ran with tire pressure sensors in the wheels with the traction control off but I did get a consistent service traction control message in one corner when the car was in a full power slide. I will get a code scan done to see if anything abnormal is occurring.

These marks were consistent on both FL and FR wheel wells.

This minor mark was only on the passenger (FR) side wheel well

Stock springs, T-1 front bar and rear links
Lack of TPM has not been a problem, I get a code after a few days and then just hit reset.

WebZ below can talk more about the TPM required on the 08s.

The Z-51 brakes still fit under the wheels. Just went to the C5 brackets and rotors as well.

Bill and len,
Glad you had a good time yesterday at Putnam .....while others were working

Bill had quite a day yesterday, a whole day at Putnam Park , and then his loving wife and children secretely arranged a suprise birthday party for his 50th. It looked to me like all of his family, buddies and work compardres were present.

Len, I bet when you take those 26.3" diameter tires off of the car and get on some real "black crack" (Hoosiers @ 25.6") that you will see less rubbing.....and if not we'll put some more bushings in that jack-o-latern of yours.

I wander if those marks were actually made in the pits at full steering lock positions ????

Those C6 fenderwells just dont swallow those large tires as well as the good ole' C5, unless you forked out the serious dough for the C6Z.

surprised C5 has more room but I guess C6 is smaller so it had to come from some where. I put 315 30 18 but they didn't fit on front Did really want to cut the front inner fenderwell. I will use them up on the rear.
