Thanks to the local chapter of PCA for hosting a great event. This was my first autocross event. Finished 1st in class by more than 5 seconds and 5th overall out of 49 cars. I never guessed it would be as fun as it was.

Yeah it's fun, here is a video from the Texas A&M autox that was today, I have never run an autox in a parking lot like the one in your video, some of those cones look really big!

Thanks guys. The course was very tight overall except for a few long stretches. The organizer layed the course out that way to keep the speeds down because there wasn't a 25 foot space between the concrete curbs in areas.
One of the coolest cars there was a 1955 Porsche Spyder which is the same car that James Dean was killed in. The owner dove the hell out of that thing and threw it around the course like it was a miata. You don't see too many of those cars - especially at a racing event.

Suprisingly, there were only 49 cars registered for the autocross. The local corvette club helped out a good bit and had several cars there. I'm hoping to find more of these type events in my area cause it really was a blast.

For being your first event, you did really well. It's great that you like it. You will learn a different set of skills at an autocross that you will be able to apply on an open track.
You have several options for autocross. The closest club to you is the Atlanta SCCA chapter. Their website is below:
http://www.soloatlanta.com/
You can also run with the Dixie SCCA group in Valdosta, GA but the trip will be just a little longer to get there. We get some of the Atlanta folks coming down to our events every once in a while especially when a National Tour is coming up or when folks are getting ready for the annual National Event. Our next event is May 4th. We will probably have a few folks come from other clubs to get ready for the National Tour in Atlanta in May.
At a minimum, you should check out the tour. It is will be at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. You will learn a lot and see some of the fastest autocrossers in this country.

Thanks José for the links. I was hoping I could find some more information about these events and those sites are perfect. I spent the last hour studying them and I rwent ahead egistered on the Solo Atlanta forum. I've got a lot of crap to learn if I want to get more involved with this sport, but it's a ton of fun for sure.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
Buccaneer Region runs events near Savannah pretty often also...
You ought to talk this one up in the area. It takes a lot of effort to put one on and the sponsors can sure use the help for the next one!
