Default New trackday group in the North East

There is a new group to the area called "Hooked On Driving" - I believe they have some other chapters in the West, and possibly the South, but they did a startup here at the end of last season, and have booked some time at the local tracks around the NY/NJ area.

I had the pleasure of doing a trackday last year at their inaugural event at Pocono, and I must say they were probably one of the friendliest and most professional groups I have run with. I have no vested interest in this group, just wanted to share my experience with them to all of you.

After a few disappointing days with other groups that seemed to want to pack as many cars as humanly possible on track, as well as having as many as 6 run groups so you *might* get 3 sessions in a day; I found none of that with HOD. No more than 4 run groups, and since the attendance was low they had shrunk it down to 3 groups, and we got 6 or 7 sessions on the day. Plus, lunch was included, and they had some nice giveaways (I won a $50 Shell gas card, nice!).

Check them out, I'm sure after doing just one day with them, you will understand what I'm talking about - Their first event this year is coming up in a few weeks at Watkins Glen.

Sounds good to me. I only recently discovered the virtues of 3 run groups instead of 4--less crowding makes a huge difference.

The HOD group in Nor. Calif. has gotten together with some of the local
Corvette club folks and started doing All Corvette events. We had just
about 100 Vettes at Thunderhill this past fall and expect they will get
the same for an event on April 24th, later this month. The guy trying
to get a national group together has done a good job of getting some
sponsors, like Shell to pony up for give aways, etc. Things are much
different than when I started to track five years ago and was lucky to
see a handful of Vettes at any event. HOD has a good business plan
and seems to be expanding with a low key approach. I hope they do
well.
