C6 Auto-X: T1 front bar with Z51 rear bar?
Hi all,
Currently running a C6 in ASP. I do pretty well & love it. Run Sticky tires, AutoX alignment, and have z51 suspension (as was stock with my car)
Have gathered from reading that people seem to like a proportionally stiffer front bar versus rear for - amongst other things - better slalom roll recovery & better plant on corner exit...
While certainly a fully adjustable bar set (Pfadt perhaps) might be more ultimate (thoughts?) ...would getting a T1 front bar - while keeping the Z51 rear bar - be a good & inexpensive "first step" in that direction? (stiffer front versus rear)
PS - have adjustable shocks too - which could help balancing a little...
Many thanks for all who reply!!!!! - welcome all opinions including that I'm a knucklehead... john

T1 bar only up front may be overdoing for auto-X and may end up causing a lot of front push. You may need to find a compromise between the existing z51 bar and the huge T1 bar.

At least on the C5's, the T1 bar set (F and R) biased the car to a little more understeer at low speeds already. No need to go any smaller with the rear bar.
This is where a little alignment and shock tuning can dial out some of the low speed understeer, and make the car very nice and driveable.

SS and ASP sway bar options
If you are racing in ASP you really should consider getting a set of sway bars. If you are in the Stock classes which only allows for front sway bar changes then we have a SS package which includes a adjustable front sway bar that is matched to the stock rears.
Changing the front bar to a T1 will really hurt your balance as it is 2.5 times too stiff for your rear C6 Z51 bar. The Z51 package sway bars are by far the best stock setup for the C6. It is of our opinion that the C6 Z06 rear bar is far too stiff for the rear, leading to a tail happy car, especially for the tight course of AX racing.
You really should go for adjustability. Having adjustable shocks does help with overall performance but as a balance tunning tool, it is much finer in its control. Sway bars are your "blunt instrument", if you will, for quickly changing the overall balance of the car. The shocks will allow you to tailor the corner entry/exit balance but not the overall balance.
Hope this helps. also, please see the attached chart which shows the relative sway bar rates of stock, T1 and Pfadt Race Engineering Street and Competition sway bars.
Please feel free to contact us with questions!
