Default remote clutch bleed?

Who makes the hot set-up for remote bleeding the C5 clutch? Why GM put the bleeder in a totally not reachable *&^%ing place is beyond me. Do I just not get the trick to doing this or was GM insane? What to do??? I assume some kind of remote bleed line?

Thanks!

I believe RPM transmissions has made two versions of the bleeder, and LAPD and some others have duplicated them.

Yeah, bleeding that thing is anything but fun.

No... its a PITA. LAPD makes a remote clutch bleeder extender line. Life is better after you install one.

LAPD is a forum vendor. Looks like their kit is on sale right now:

Most LA area corvette shops, LAPD, A&A, OCC, RPM all carry remote bleeder lines. You can also do the "drain & refill reservoir, pump clutch pedal 10-15 times, drain & refill reservoir" routine. After about 5-6 cycles the clutch fluid is pretty clear.

I tried that last time around and I swear I did it 20 tiimes and after 10 minutes of driving it was back to black.

How hard is it to install the remote bleeder?

Do it when you do the clutch...

Also, You might be better off getting the specs on the fitting and making your own using Colemanracing.com or stockcarproducts.com.

When I had my C5 I installed the LAPD extender and the damned line should have been another 6-10 inches in length...Making the line isn't a big deal if you know the size of the fitting, and it'll cost you about $15 in materials.

Job security. It's absolutely worth it.
If the line is SS, make sure you insulate or route it from the alum fuel line...hard lesson for me!

The trick is you have to drive it between fills. Drain, fill, pump 15 times, drive car. Next day, repeat. Do this for a week and you're clean. Use Motul 600 nothing less.
