Silver Lining in the dark clouds over NHMS for Over 1G Racing!
New Hampshire Motor Speedway seems to be a good luck charm for Joe Gaudette and the Over 1G Racing team. In 2007 it was where they took their first Pole Position in a National T1 Race. In 2008, after a long hard comeback from being wrecked at Pocono (that most of you are familiar with) it was the place where they took their first victory in a National T1 Race!
Saturday’s qualifying showed a field of 5 T1 cars with Joe starting 4th. On Sunday, only 4 of those 5 cars took the green flag on what was a dreary, gray day with a persistent light rain. Joe was able to capture the third spot right at the start when Kulka spun his rear tires on the wet track as they took the green. Joe continued to work his way through the field and cleanly passed Barrett to take 2nd place. Looking ahead, Berkley had a sizeable lead at that point but Joe continued to work hard, hit his marks and work his way up. When Berkley had an issue in Turn 12, coming onto the front straight (and doing a great job keeping it out the wall BTW) Joe was able to significantly close the gap and raced Berkley hard for the next few laps. Finally, Joe made a phenomenal move in Turn 6, known as “the bowl” and took the lead heading up the hill. Joe continued to pull away and finally took the checkered flag, finishing on the lead lap of the entire field of GT1, GT2, GT3, AS and T1 cars.

Safety Car
Wasn't Berkley in a C6 last season?
A super-huge congrats to Joe! I guess the Pfadt shocks ended up working pretty well!

Melting Slicks
Joe and I talked last week, and I know he was feeling the stress of racing on a budget, and the unknowns looming in the back of his mind. Would Joe have any lingering doubts after the horrific crach last year? Would he be able to put the past behind him and race to the front for a podium?
Guess he was!!!
I know Joe is driving the long drive home from NH, so I'll just say that I know Joe is especially appreciative of all the many donations you guys and gals made in getting him back up and running!
GO GET 'EM JOE!

It was blast to see them again and to be in the stands to watch the race.
