Default have a question about C5Z06 sways

I have a base suspension C5 with Bilstein sports, and Im upgrading my sways..is there a major difference if I get the sways without the metal end links as opposed to with them? Is there a gain in performance and stability? thanks

I think I'd try it both ways. It's trivial to swap out the links, and then you can be the judge. If you don't want to do that, try the metal ones (well lubed) for a while and see what you think. I think that stiffening up the sway bar without doing the same to the end links is a little self-defeating. The alternative is to upgrade to something really adjustable like the Pfadt bars and leave the links alone.

I upgraded my sways to Z06 and went with metal endlinks. Why stick with plastic. Obviously there was a problem or Chevy would not have switched.

There is no noise from the OEM-type metal endlinks. They are not like the T1 endlinks.

If I were you, I'd put the metal endlinks on when changing the bars.

Yes, get the metal end links. The plastic end links will collapse under compression loads, deform/shear, and become virtually useless (I've even seen them come apart completely).

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

If you're going to the trouble to upgrade the bar I'd suggest going with adjustable endlinks. Especially if you've changed the ride height at all. They will take any preload out of your system and leave you with a more balanced car. IMHO.

I put in Z51 bars w/ metal end links this winter. I have a base suspension and have had Bilstein Sports. The sports took out the nose dive when hard braking. I have done two autoxs and one HDPE this year. The new sways puts me throught the autox sloams a lot quicker!

The Z06 front bar is a little bit bigger than the Z51. It was an easy afternoon "in the driveway" change out.

thanks for the replies...Ill get them with the metal end links.. will these bars cause a harder ride when hitting bumps or will there be no difference from what I have? (except flatter cornering) its firm already but livable on the street..

You will not get a "harder ride" by chg bars and/or links.

You will stay flatter (less sway) when cornering.

Springs & shocks can give you harder/softer ride.

Get the oem metal links, the t1's will rattle (eventually).

Default too much sway bar?

I've got a 2002 Z06 and I'm thinking of upgrading the sway bars. Is there any such thing as too much of a sway bar? Can you get them too big and cause a decrease in performance? I'm leaning toward T1 now but I'm very open to suggestions.

Yes, there is definitely such a thing a too much sway bar. The bigger the bar the less "independant" your suspension. As you go over bumps each wheel is less able to follow road contours independantly. A T1 bar is really really stiff. Check out Pfadt engineering's web site. They have a sway bar chart on there.

If you post what you plan on doing with the car then the community can make some recommendations on bar size.

I'm selling my Hotchkis anti-sway bar package for a very good price - includes everything. Mike

* Lightweight, durable 1.25” (1 ¼”) tubular steel front sway bar.
* 20% Stiffer than Z51 & ZO6 Lightweight, durable 1.125” (1 1/8”) adjustable tubular steel rear sway bar.
* Stiffness increase on Z51 +15%, +45%, +80%.
* Stiffness increase on ZO6 -15%, Same, +30%.
