Yes, the new CTS-V is the real deal, I love it.

I
GM NEEDS TO STEP IT UP! And this car is definitely in the right direction.

I've loved M's for the longest, but I'd buy this V over the M5 in a hearbeat.

I wish they would run it at some track that I can relate to, like Sears Point, WGI, Sebring, etc.

yeah, and from what I gather times at the ring really dont mean much. There is always so much traffic, and its nearly impossible to run hotlaps as the driver would probably get seasick after 2 or 3.

But it sells magazines.... soooo....

GM didn't do this to sell magazines. They did to show the world that GM has the technology to build cars that compete with--and beat--the best available from any other manufacturer in the planet.

That's a laudable goal, in my view.

oh, i'm not saying that GM started the whole nurburgring fascination. The magazine world did that. Using the track to test and tune cars is great, and GM has definitely done a great job with the cars they ran there.

What I'm saying is that a lot of people read WAY too much into the times that come from these test sessions.

I wonder what the msrp will be for the new ctsv.

in the video there is no traffic so, GM rented the 'Ring for that test...

I can speak from personal experience ... I can easily run more than 2 or 3 laps back to back without getting sick. I did in fact run several back to back laps and never felt the least bit queasy. I wasn't running sub 8 minutes though

That is standard procedure for manufacturers. They don't want to jeopardize a good run by having some German dodo (no offense intended to other Germans) get in the way.

That's one quiet car. I heard about this run so I enjoyed riding along...thanks for posting the video.

He's a great guy to talk to.

He used to take his son autocrossing with him when I was in Mich.

Very cool. Now to resist upgrading my 06 CTS-V daily driver... is there a support group?

The guy really has one deft touch on that slip angle. Gotta love it! Actually, I am impressed with his sub 8. I would be very hesitant to throw out any criticism until I had also done a sub 8.
