Default How the heck do I get -2.5 degrees of camber??

I keep destroying my Hoosiers, which recommend -2.5 to -3.0 and the best the Goodyear dealer can do is -1.5

Help

On my 97 I was able to get -2.2 to -2.3 depending on side by setting the camber and letting the caster fall where it would fall. If the car had been lowered (the GM recommended amount) it would have probably picked up a few more tenths of a degree of camber. This was with the cams run all the way out and all washers removed from behind the upper control arms.

Wow! front and rear stock cams??? I thought you needed to go to individually cut shims to get that negative

Didn't check the rear. When we were going through setting mine up we cranked them all the way in to see what it could do. walla -2.2 I was shocked. I eneded up pulling them back out to -1.5 since I'm still on street tires.

As far as tire wear you don't need as much negative camber in the rear. I never had more than -.8 in the rear and the Hoosiers wore fine.

make sure the upper control arms don't have WASHERS behind them, most cars have one or two behind each bolt. Each washer is good for about .5deg. Also, as stated, either GM, Pfadt, or Hardbars camber plates will give you another .2deg or so.

They likely coult only get -1.5 and maintain your castor setting....If it's mostly a track car, you can sacrifice the castor for more camber.

I removed just one washer on my C6Z and was able to get -3.0 in the front. I can't imagine if I removed more...

try the washers first.

Gee, I don't remember any washers unless someone took them out before me. I only remember cranking on the cams to move the control arms. The washers would be on the bolt holding the control arm then a cam on top of the bolt then a nut to keep it all together right?

C6Z06s have two washers between the upper control arms and the frame. You need to remove the bolts that mount the control arm to the frame to take out the washers. If you remove one of them you gain about 0.5 degrees of negative camber.

With both washers out (8 total for the front of the car), I get -2.8 to -3.4 degrees in my car.

You should not have any problem getting -2.8 degeres.
