Default *****C5/6 Front Hub Group Buy*****

This is the official Group Buy thread for our new Front C5/6 HD Hub Bearings.

We should start receiving these next week. Please call us or e-mail us all of your info to place an order. E-mails will be sent out today to the people we already have on our list. This offer is only valid through May 30th.

We will retail these bearings at $279.99 each.

GB price is $237.99.

HD Hubs with 12mm x 1.5 x 2.5” ARP Racing Studs installed will Retail at $334.99

GB price is $284.99

Vendors please call for your pricing.

Prototype rears are in and will be test fit on Wed, than off to the racers for evaluation. These will be on a multi-ball platform like OE, except we are using smaller ***** and more of them, as well as a nitrate hardened finish race. Packaging restraints did not allow for a tapered bearing like the fronts. We feel this will still be an improvement as OE rear hubs do not have a nitrate hardened race and more ***** will yield a greater load capacity according to our engineers. The ***** will be encapsulated in a cage like the tapered bearings.

All e-mails should be sent to vansteel@vansteel.com. Toll Free number for US residents is 800-418-5397. Outside US 727-561-9199

Please ask for Paul or Dan

We test fit the rears Wed and all went well. Not fitment issues and the ABS was fine. We expect production to start in 30 days. We will have a GP for the rears once we get a final price. We will also have a 4 wheel GP package and for the guys who purchased the fronts already will be grandfathered in on the rears.

Put me down for the rears as well if not on the list but I probably am

I just got a pair of fronts for my C6Z from the great guys at VanSteel! They are REALLY stout and I will put them in this weekend for the May 27 SCDA event at NHMS. I will take a bunch of pics as I do it and report back later. Here are a couple of pics and the 3rd one is for John Shiels!

dang fine looking indeed

ABS, I have had ICE MODE on other cars, heard a few stories here, this is going to be a very fast car and I do not want to stuff it due to having no brakes. I would rather replace more tires than take that chance.

I have heard the reason some have problems is the sensors getting dirty but I have not looked into it further.

I have also kept the parts needed in case I ever want to hook it back up but hopefully will not have to do so.

One more, on cars with ABS I just never quite get the fine line connection between balancing the car properly, I tend to drive more aggresively and do not always come out of the corner as fast as I should. Maybe all my fault but I have to work with what I have as a driver and I want to be very very smooth, momentum, not easy to change after 40 years of mostly cut and thrust.

Thanks

Rick

How do these compare with the GM Racing wheel bearings LG used on JMac's Z06?

If you have been following any of our Hub Bearing Threads, you would know that the rears have been done and the fronts are still in prototype. Should have those in approx 2 months. Both 84-90 & 91-96

The traditional GM Racing bearings are just built to a tighter tolerance. To our knowledge that the only difference. It still uses ball bearings vs ours with the tapered and nitrate hardened race.
