Default Dynatech Header Cracking?

Since I blew a quarter size piece out of my headers (#2 cylinder on top) I was wondering if any others had this problem with an aftermarket header?

I had a set of TPIS headers litterally crack into pieces once (they were mild steel, plus I had "wrapped" them. However, I've used LG SS headers since, and they are very durable. Aren't Dynatechs SS as well????

They are SS - not sure what alloy. It looks like brittle fracture failure...

I am sure they were not welded in an oxygen free environment as they should be to preclude this type of failure........

I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that prior to '04, the tubing used by Dynatech was not the greatest and that they have since upgraded. There were compaints that when letting off the fast pedal, unburned fuel (at much lower temps) was causing cracking in the primary tubes and also inside their converters. Please don't quote me as my memory has been known to fail me quite frequently.

How did you know you had a problem--altered exhaust sound from the engine? I have Dynatech's but the prev. owner installed them.

My son Josh was driving at the time - he heard loud noise under the hood exiting T9 at Roebling...it was a pretty massive exhaust leak...

Can you drive that home or did you have to try to patch it there? With HPDE, equipment is always an issue until one gets the truck and tows everything in.

Sorry his track day evidently ended prematurley.

He may chime in, but I know that Phil Smith had his crack also.

Nope - Josh fixed it with a piece from a 55 gallon drum and a hose clamp on Friday and ran another session.

We won TTA on Sat and Sunday - even set a new track record for TTA on Sunday with the patch in place...

It is still in the trailer since the event

Finally talked to Dynatech today - since I bought them 19 months ago they are no longer under warranty but once I paid them $627 for a driver side replacement and send them my failed one they are 95% sure they will cover the cost......

If they do not cover it I will be returning the replacement and go to stock manifolds again I guess

We cover our headers no questions asked. We have not had a failure to the tubes, period. If we do, we will replace it. We have the occasional air tube fitting come off, but usually that was an earlier header with out a brace, or the customer ran no air tubes which dampen the vibraitons.

Our stuff was designed and built on the race track, no way would we ever build a sub par piece
