Default On Star and track events

One of my participants for our next event has a C6 with On Star.

He is concerned since it has GPS....anyone have any thoughts? Pull the fuse?

Disconnect it?

Doesn't want it to come bite him later on for warranty work not related to the track event.

GM has more important stuff to do than to keep tabs on your friend 24/7. Besides, HPDE's are not warranty voiding events. They are perfectly legal and GM actually has tips in the manual about preparing for these events. Racing with mods is a different story.

Pull the fuse.

had an event two years ago. Guy with a Caddy CTSv went off track, OnStar called him while he was off turn 4 at VIR and asked him if he needed assistance? The guy and his instructor just laughed. and they said NO.

Now that OnStar rep should have said

Mr Smith, you really need to into Turn 4 deeper then really hard on the brakes sharp left turn and stay on the left side of the track to set up for Turn 5.

Now that would be Customer service,

They don't track you all the time, only when called. OnStar would never know unless he had a crash or severe off.

Tell him his PCM is the big tattletale. The computer records top speed, time at high RPM, and a host of other stuff that will hang you if you go in for warranty work. All they have to do is read the computer.

How would a top speed run void your warranty? Don't they advertise that the Z06 will do 195 mph?

The rev limiter hits at 7,000 rpm. They can read the computer all they want and there will be nothing to void the warranty there.

I believe the only thing stored is the last 30 seconds or somewhere around that.

When I was racing in the 04 One Lap Of America one of the CTSV entries had ON-STAR call him twice during the wk and tell him he was exceding the design limits of the car. I know it was at Road America and some where else. The other entries had covered there antenna's
