Pics Of Mongoose GTP At Corvette Cleveland Autocross
Corvette Cleveland was able to get the old Ford plant in Lorain,Ohio(Cleveland area) for the day. It was a great place and was just over 3/4's of a mile long.
Since the T1 car wasn't done for the Nelson's National, the Mongoose boys asked me if I wanted to thrash the cars around some pylons.
I started off in the GTP unchanged from the One Lap except Kumho 710's. The coarse was fast in most places except the slaloms where the Wide & Long GTP TANK just fit through with maybe an inch on each side. It made you be VERY SMOOTH I tell you with NO room for drifting like RAFTRACER!
We had about 57 cars from Vettes to Mini coopers,Honda's,ETC and a real nice Cobra replica. Great weather at 75 degrees and sunshine. we all got 3 runs in the AM and 3 in the PM.
There was a RAFT prepared Z06 with the very fast Ron Young at the wheel. He was flying all day and it took me till the 5th run to catch him. He had a great run at a 105.0??. I ended up with a 104.444 (Seconds) for Overall FTD for the day, but really worked for it.
Then I jumped into the OLD Grand Sport Coupe for fun and ran a 105.6?? on the first run, but the power steering was puking so I bagged that car. It sure is fun driving those cars and look forward to more seat time when I can.
Mongoose has a great product as Danny and Jeremy proved in the One lap in the Yellow car. They Just need a little fine tuning here and there so thats why we were out testring and getting data to improve on things.
I even took my buddy for a ride in the GTP. He must have made a good counter weight cause we ran the fastest laps with him in the passenger seat. I had to pry him out after the ride though.
Here are a few pics. Enjoy!

This just in, the Lorain local paper really liked the GTP and wrote a nice article about Corvette Clevelands event.

Also, I just had this link sent of my first few runs. As you can see the GTP does not like the A$$ end thrown out like front engine cars.

Aaron, that looked like a great use of "precious" petrochemicals! How bumpy was that lot? I know it'll never happen, but man it would be a blast to put the Mongoose out at Mineral Wells!
Have a good one,
Mike
