Default White vs Pearl Sparco race suit

Need some opinions. I'm going with a lighter color Sparco suit but can't decide between white and pearl.

Pearl looks like light gray online.

What do y'all think?

The pearl has black cuffs. The white has white cuffs.

I highly recommend against white cuffs!

I settled on an OMP, silver, not as bad to take care of as white and will help deal with the heat here in Utah where I will mostly run the car.

Rick, not fashion advice.

If I am going to spend $500+ for a racing suit that I will keep for several years I would like some advice from people that may have experience with a white suit or a gray suit. Does white clean up ok or will it start to look like crap after a few years.

You may disagree but I think racers do have some pride in the way they look. I don't see many with stains and crap on their suits before they even climb in their car.

If you think that's gay - your perogative.

Black cuffs. Gray>white.
Nothing gets dirty faster than a white thing, save a pure black thing. Dust, dirt, water, oil. You name it. The number of times you clean a suit determines useful life. More cleaning == more wear == shorter life. I suspect many of the pro racing teams have good numbers on how long suites last, or perhaps they simply replace them after each season.

I would also point out that most racing teams have matching suits. For drivers, crew, etc. Looks sharp.

Get the light gray then. Suits get dirty. dry clean or gentle wash in cold water and hang inside out to dry.

Yeah matching outfits is sort of gay....

That is me and my wife in the avatar in matching suits. She's one hell of a navigator for open road racing.

You guys should run with the Ferrari club sometime. They purchase the top of the line suits just to walk up and down pit lane. Some of them never actually get into their cars. That way the suit stays clean.

Looking back on this thread it may have seemed a little "gay" to ask what color suit to get - but I was asking not for what looks better but what will look better longer. I think most of y'all knew where I was going with the question.

$500 may not be much $$$ to spend on a piece of safety equipment but it is something that I would like to use for several years. I don't want to look like some bum 2 years down the road wearing something that looks like it came from Goodwill.

I appreciate the knowledge from you guys that have been there longer than I have. Raam, just wondering about your comment about not getting white cuffs.

Now if someone will help me pick the drapes to go with the taupe walls in my race trailer.
