Little out of the box for these forums, but it does have a LS3 shoved under the hood. The owner performed the swap himself, we tied up some loose ends completed the tuning, alignment and scale corner balance in-house.

All corner balance and alignment setups are performed with driver weight ballast.

I've driven one of those with a 440/440 rwhp/tq and it was really nice.

Is that S&S fab wing mount?

In my opinion doing the LSx swap is the only way to keep these (sexy) cars running properly. The rotory turbo motors aren't worth a damned when it comes to longevity. My son has owned 3 of these 3rd gen RX7s and they all suffer from heatsoak issues that kill the turbos, cook the vacuum lines and destroy the apexi seals... Been trying to get him to do an LSx swap for a while...

2700 lbs with driver and a corvette motor. Our cars weigh about 3400 lbs with driver. I'm guessing that having 700 lbs less to haul around would make that thing pretty damn fast and fun.

And they have nice four pot front calipers from the factory. Not sure about the FD but the FC is a bit of a pain wrt changing rotors, though, since the wheel bearings are pressed in. Thankfully you rarely have to do it.

I didn't grab pics of the underhood before the car left yesterday night.

Yes this is the S&S Fabrication wing on this car.

The customer put the car together himself including the motor/trans/wiring/brakes/etc. We just finished up a few things for him in the last couple of months, aligned, scale balanced and tuned the car.

How about a youtube video on my dyno:

Or tooling around Pocono in the car's first session:

One day I'll have another one.

I loved my LS1 RX7. Fantastic stock brakes and one of the funnest cars I've ever driven.

The downfall was the rear end...4.11's and no real choice anything else unless you had something fabbed. Someone make a bracket to put a Ford IRS pig in it but they had integrity problems.

If you have the money those cars can be driven for free. You can pick one up, drive it for a year and sell it for what you paid for it.

BTW, was that a Subaru SVX?

You guys still have the 4.11's....sounded like it when he hit top speed whcih if I remember was 149? Sounded like it had a lot more in it but he couldn't go any faster.

Your son needs to simply install:
1) Kyoyo or Fluidyne radiator (~$500 installed)
2) Silicon vacume hoses ($350 installed)
3) M2 Medium IC (~ $400?)

Do the above & the motor will last a LONG time (I sold my T2 with 125k miles on it & my FD has ~ 85k). Apex (not Apexi) seals do not go bad due to heatsoaking (that is a problem driven by using a stock or inefficient IC - the M2 Medium IC above has an 82% efficiency so it will keep the intake charge temps low & improve power without causing boost drop). Hope this helps your son.

Until they detonate...once....

Its a great motor and a great idea but they haven't fixed the basic issue with FI on a rotary and thats what happens when it knocks.

Thats the end of the motor, time to rebuild.

Wing end plates are on backwards.

Radius edge should be facing forward.

It's definitely a design weakness but you can counter/prevent it by changing your fuel filter once/year & always running premium. If you mod it, then it may be time for getting the injector CFM rate increased, depending on mods being made....just don't starve a rotary of fuel - they hate that shiate.

Agreed. Rotors like it rich. In fact, they tend to make better power running rich than running on the ragged edge of lean...

I wish the SCCA would change the SM2 rules to allow these kind of swaps.

Hey Guys, I didnt even know the car was on this forum. Anyway... disregard the last video... this new video from yesterdays Pocono North even is much better. The car ran a 56.3 and i havent even pushed the car that hard yet.

You guys are right... the only issue with the car is the 4.11 gear. I will be upgrading to a Jericho 4 speed dog box with a new rear end gear.

The great part about the car is the weight. Its in the 2,600's right now with driver and fuel... but, it will be 200lbs lighter than that once I swap the t-56 for the jericho and I go to fiberglass body parts.

The wing on backwards was a mistake when one of the mechanics had to remove it to fit the car under a lift. It was resolved quickly no harm done.
