Default Oil leak onto starter on LS1 Motor?

In the never ending saga on the joys of tracking a car older than 3 years..

My fresh LS motor in our 99 FRC is now leaking oil on the right side of the block. It is not a valve cover leak and it is not the dipstick. It was enough to smoke a little at Road Atlanta on Monday from getting on the header near the collector. we drained a little oil from the pan on the hope it was overfilled and it seemed to help but not cure the problem.

If this was a good old SB or BB Chevy I would suspect rear main seal (and I would be po'ed since the motor has about 5000 miles).

Any guidance appreciated. We run at Barber Fri/Sat/Sun (we hope).
