Huge Corvette turnout at Pfadt/NASA Race at Miller
It's been a busy weekend of racing, debating the best line, working on the car (a little) and having an all around great time here at Miller.
The Arizona Corvette Racers showed up in force and they are quite an impressive group. The Time Trial racing talent in this group far exceeded NASA's expectations and on Sunday they responded by giving us our own run group, separate from the HPDE4 guys. We'll try to post the official results after the weekend.
Here's an early photo of Josh and I at Saturday morning grid with Dean.
Between sessions we hung out in the Pfadt garages which were a great break from the sun and to talk about the last session. Darryl at Xtreme Motorsports and I after a fabulous Time Trial session:
Checking out the Pfadt cars during a qualifying session:
One of the cool things about NASA is they'll sometimes run Enduro's. On Saturday we ran our 190 car in the 2 hour enduro, which I love to race in. There were only 15 or so cars entered, but just being out there for two hours is a great experience. We got to practice re-fuelling and checking out the car during the pit stop. Unfortunately we had an overheating problem with the differential that ended the race early for us. We ran strong for about 1.5 hours before the overheating. This kind of testing helps us prepare for longer enduro's so we can make the car bullet-proof.
We rounded up as many of the Corvette racers as we could find and took a group photo. Rudy forgot his camera and earned the "Fast Lap of the Day" award retrieving it on a pink and white bike. His cornering skills through the cones were impressive!

There's nothing better than being out at the track with Corvette racers - thanks to everyone for coming out!

Everyone said they wanted to see your Beast unleashed on this track!!! It would really give it a chance to stretch it's legs! Think about it for next year!

The Arizona Corvette Racers....I know a lot those guys. They're a good group...knowledgeable...helpful and they run fast. One (Tucson) member in particular has been like a mentor to me (in fact, that looks like his car behind Darryl's). I wish I could have gone...looks like good times!

I just got off the phone with Kenny G. He had a great time and will be back next year.
I tried to talk him into getting a couple hundred pounds out of his car. But he thought it would be better and cheaper for him just to add weight to all the fast guys

Great event, wish I could of been there all weekend, and with my Vette, instead of just Sunday in a Scion
----------------------
Actually I had fun in my family autocross, track day car, got it really fast in the corners, now need to double the power so it can have half the power to weight ratio the Vette will have when done.
----------------------
More beautiful Pfadt Racing parts on display, damn sexy things, hate to hide them under a car!!!! But I will use them all in time
----------------------
Very much looking forward to joining the Vette coral at future events. I used to not care much for the average Vette owner but the more I am around the real enthusiasts, the more I am glad to finally be one myself and wish I had been many years ago!!!!!

It was an awesome time!
Thanks to Aaron, Robin and the rest of the Pfadt racing crew for preparing lunch for all of us on Saturday
I just made it to Sacramento this morning where I am keeping the rig until June 28-29 when I run Infineon in Sonoma. I'm at the airport waiting to catch a flight back to Phx. I-80 from Miller to here was a dream highway compared to US89 through Utah

No, there are 2 seasons there (like here in NH), winter and 4th of July! Looks like a fantastic facility, and a great event! I wish I could check my car as a carry on so I could fly there. Then again, flying sure sucks these days too!

Here is a video of the full track, second session on Sunday morning. Wayne's silver Z06 has a Killer Bee, tune and slicks. The turbo 944 has a little more HP than a stock Z06 and is fully race preped on slicks. My Z06 powertrain is completely stock from the intake filter through exhaust tips, riding on Hoosier R6s. Only used 3rd through 5th gears to keep the rpms down while breaking in the new engine.

A 3:12 lap which I can reduce quite a bit more once I learn the track well enough not to get lost! It is hard for my brain to learn 23 corners in half a day. Here is the map:
Aaron assured me you could go through T11 almost flat out but I never got close knowing that "Gotcha" is the next corner!
