Default So, I'm coming around 10 at Putunam

And the C5 I was behind drops his right rear off on the inside, right smack into a serious mud puddle.

Not drop on his car.

One for my photo album for sure.
Thought you all might like seeing what the relentless rain has done, enjoy it.

One of the staff guys directed me to the track water hose immediately after.

Wow! bet that was exciting. So that is why you have a backup car, in case there is no hose!

Are you coming to VIR this week, Bill?

You won't see the "back up" car on the track though.

Hi Arte,
Won't be at VIR. Would love to though.
Will be at Mid Ohio on the 12th &13 and then back there on 8-8-08.

I assume you will be at VIR. I hope you have a great time at a great track.

Dang! You posted it before I could. Just got home and had a blast too with the T1 car.

More pictures to come from me and in-car video.

Nice to finally meet you buddy!

My Caterham looked like that too but I earned mine by doing a doughnut off track. Mud everywhere. If I hadn't had my helmet shield down I wld have had mud in my face.

Two cars crashed, mildly, at 9-10, one was a green 'Vette, I was told, the other a red Lotus Exige. The problem was that if a driver put a wheel off, it was often a disaster due to the mud.

What times were the fast 'Vettes running?

This was not a TT event but my dad did stop watch Mike E. (John Deer Green C5) and I (Black T1 car) for the last session when the traffic was lighter.

We had about 3 good clear laps untill lap traffic and he had us at LOW 1:14's. Is that any good?

This was my first time running my 2003 T1 car there, but have run there before in my old C4 car back in 2002.

Is 1'14" good? I am no authority but I think most 'Vette drivers would love to claim that kind of time at Putnam. Danny Popp runs in the high 12's at Putnam but the cars may not be comparable.

Aaron,
I would give my left nut for a 1:14 at putnam
Simply not gonna happen for me.

1:14 is very fast for this track.

This is the video and shows what you are talking about.

I am assuming the driver was cutting it short and staying right to let me around
for that courtesy, I am glad he did not get himself in a jam by hitting the mud and losing traction.

All around, this was another event of pure sportsmanship. Everyone was playing by the rules and trying to stay safe.

Did you get any windshield damage or was it just mud that washed off. If it washed off feel lucky the guy was being courteous and trying to give you room. One time I had a guy in an M5 do the opposite and instead of letting me by decided to get racy. He was driving over his head and spun off track right in front of me in the dry, I was pelted with rocks and dirt. That trackday cost me an extra $1,100 for a new windshield.

You got lucky, a cool video, cool picture, and no serious damage.

No nicks etc.
It all washed off pretty well.

You are right about the Silver car giving me room.

I am glad he did not get loose etc. because of it after hitting the mud.

Sorry buddy! I wonder if Danny Popp has anything, he did a 1:12 something and that is smoking fast.

Speaking of photos, there was a pro photographer at the event. He took 50-90 photos of each car. You can see yourself/order a photo at his website: www.nigelsoultphoto.com.
