Aeroquip brand name is Firesleeve..almost as costly as the hose itself.

Ross, here's a link to some heat sleeve stuff I've used.

I forgot how much it was. BSR Products has it.

Not to hijack your thread, but when bleeding my brakes the other day, I notice a little wear in the rubber on one of my brake lines. The nylon thread underneath was in fine condition, and I have ordered the new part, but I have an HPDE Friday and was wondering if there was anything (like temporary high temp tape) I can use to temporarily wrap the line. Just to keep anything from causing a problem temporarily? I am talking something I can find at a auto parts store?

If you're just looking for an abradable surface, then I think most any kind of tape will work. The high temp tape isn't expecting high heat from the adhesive side, so I don't know what it'd buy you.

If you're worried about brake pressure (I'm pretty sure you aren't), then replacing the line is the only thing I can think of.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

like a piece of rubber fuel line?? slice it with a knife and slip it over your braided hose, a couple of ty raps will keep it in place...

Go to your local surplus store. They typically have all sorts of odds and ends made of rubber. I got some rubber sleeves for my brake lines this way as they tend to contact the control arms and the brake duct coolers under hard use. Cheers!

I lucked out, the part came in today and I am going to replace the entire line. I am not going to run the risk at this point for 30 minutes of work. God forbid, the line breaks and I lose brake pressure going into a 150mph turn...so not worth it!

Thanks for the replies and sorry again to hijack the original post.
