FS: 1998 C5 Coupe trackday/HPDE/TT/race car (rollbar, DRM coil-overs, T1 sways, etc.)
SOLD
NO TRADES!
FOR SALE: 1998 Corvette C5 Coupe: 117,XXX miles
I purchsed this car with the intention of building into a NASA ST2 track car, but have decided to sell it and put the money into my Panoz to bring it up to speed for ST2 racing. The car is a perfect trackday/HPDE car with all the right stuff (over $5000 in mods allready). It would also be ideal for someone looking to race the car, specifically something like NASAs ST2 class. All the car would need is a proper roll cage from someone like Phoenix Performance. The car is street legal with a current VA inspection good through 6/09.
Modifications
* DRM coilovers
* T1 swaybars w/ heim-joint endlinks and poly bar bushings
* DRM 4-point chassis bar (they can't call it a rollbar) welded in
* 1 DRM brake cooling duct (driver's side, passenger is missing)
* Full interior, customized to accept rollbar
* Corbeau racing seats w/ Crowe 5-pt camlock harnesses
* Hardbar Derlin shift **** (stock shifter)
* Cattless x-pipe with stock mufflers (T1-style straight pipes catback come with the car)
* K&N CAI w/ MAF screen removed
* Sparco racing wheel with quick release hub
* Airbag delete
* SS caliper pistons w/ SS brake lines
* PFC brake pads (unsure of compound, very dusty and squeel when cold)
Maintenance Completed
* Amsoil 5w40 oil fresh change
* Amsoil Synthetic Dextron III trans fluid
* Amsoil 75w110 severe duty gear oil
* Car has had a new PS pump sometime in it's life (looks fresh)
Maintenance Needed/Issues
* Steering rack rebuild needed, one boot is cut and it has a slow leak
* Transmission grinds 4th gear on pwer shifts, much better after fluid swap. Not an issue for roada racing style shifting. Seeps some fluid where the trans meets the rear.
* Vehicle was hit in right front after going off turn 6 at VIR. Repaired by local shop on frame rack, car drives perfectly straight w/o issue. Some of the body panels could use better re-allignment, but the chassis is sound (I used to be an insurance adjuster and have inspected the repairs).
* The driver's side mirror doesn't work and is epoxied in place.
* The ABS light comes on every now and then asking you to service the car... does not affect drivability
* Left side 1/2 shaft cover seeps... common C5 issue, easy repair w/ a $12 seal.
Observations etc.
*The car supposedly has a new clutch in it however the previous owner is unsure which kind, may be a spec. The clutch holds perfectly and doesn't slip under any conditions.
* The motor is awesome, perfect oil pressure, no odd noises, zero leaks. Very strong LS1.
* The wheels are Z06 repros in OEM sizes.
Price Drop $12,999 - T1 straight pipes, and stock coupe catback

Brian,
Sorry to see you are selling car but it is probably a good decision. Don't want to get too over-extended.
Looks like a great car. Whoever buys it should be very happy.
Good luck with sale.
