PDA / HPDE Pocono Question
Anyone know:
a) What run groups are allowed to have a passenger, and
b) If there is a minimum age for that passenger?
I'm running tomorrow (Sunday) at Pocono in Blue/Group 3, would love to take my 13yr nephew for a few laps.

I haven't ever heard of any school that would allow anybody less than 18 in a car.

By now you have answers to your questions ...
Usually only instructors can take passengers.
All attendees at an event are required to sign a waiver form.
Minors need parent or guardian co-signature.

So this is what I was told at the event yesterday -
Passengers must be 16 years old and can run only with Red (advanced) or Black (instructors). Of course all kinds of waivers & paperwork apply.

No issues here with PDA's policy. I agree with you that it is appropriate to not let kids in the cars on the track. Even if the driver is taking it easy, doesn't prevent someone else on the track from doing something stupid. I do think 16 is an appropriate age, as 16 year olds can drive in many states (NJ included with a permit).

It is 18 at all other tracks we run, and that's the track rule not PDA's . Pocono I think is the only one that will allow 16 I think . Who told you 16 was ok ?

Ask about taking your nephew for some touring laps during lunch if they have them. Some clubs and tracks do touring or parade laps. His age might be allowed then.
Road America with the F-body club allows passengers 16 and up in all run groups.
Q. What age can participate in the event?
A. All drivers must be at least 18 years of age and all passengers must be at least 16 years of age.
Q. Can I bring friends or family for a ride-along?
A. Yes you can. Give them a chance to experience the ‘business side” of Road America. Passengers are allowed in the front passenger seat only and be 16 or older in age. They must have an approved helmet and a working seatbelt.
