Dick O'Kane wrote a great piece in R&T about 40 years ago about a Jag 120...The 120 had ducts that cooled the brakes that would pick up any water from the road and deposit it into the brake drums. Water cooled brakes are very cool brakes indeed, but water cooled brakes will do nothing to stop a Jag 120...

It went something like...

...was motoring briskly on a damp road throwing a fine rooster tail of spray and rounded a corner and found a herd of cows headed back to the barn. He had a coice, hit the farmer, hit a wall alongside the road or motor under the assembled beef. He decided on the the latter and picked what he devoutly hoped was the tallest cow and just before he hit it dove under the dashboard...

Much like this guy, he tried to split the difference between what was left of the road and the head of the cow. Probalby didn't do the cow any good....
