Default good c5 autocross tires?

I'm looking for the best tires to buy for a 2002 C5 for autocross which I can also use for 4k miles street driving per year.

Wet driving is not important ...

Thanks for any suggestions!

Running that many street miles I would recomend Michilin PS2's. They are kinda pricy, if your goin budget I'd go with Kumho Ecsta MX. Not as sticky on an auto cross but pretty good and they wear like iron.

If rain is a non-issue take a look at Nitto Extreme II.

If you want a fast tire, V710s or Hoosiers. If you are willing to compromise, the next level down would be Nittos and Toyos and V700 (if they are available). There are also other smaller companies that you can get, ask yourself how fast you want to go.

Just wanted to say thanks and that I went with the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's.

So far so good, I'm trying to follow Tirerack's advice to break 'em in lightly for the first 500 mi...

Went with the GS-D3s when they first came out 3-4 years ago. Good all around tire but a little expensive. Rear's worn about at about 10k while fronts probably can go another 10k. Considering a complete set of Kumho MXs can be had for the price of 2 rears I went with the MX's.

A lot of the tires mentioned so far in this thread are great, I'm even personally a big fan of the Kuhmo MX which used to be one of the fastest true street tires available. But the glory days of the Kuhmo MX and Falken Azenis are years gone and tire technology has marched on.

There are a few brand new top tier street tires that offer near R compound performance and still have good street manners, relatively decent life, and most suprising of all are really cheap! I would look into the Nitto NT-05 or the Kuhmo XS. I have run all sorts of tires on my vettes including MX's and Azenis' 3-4 years ago when most vette owners had never heard of them. I just bought a set of Nitto NT-05s and ran them at a time trial and an autocross this weekend, and I can say with certainty that the NT-05 really blows away almost anything out there. It is very close to an R compound and is in my opinion faster than new victoracers or old worn out V710s/A6s! Needless to say I am VERY happy with them...

My NT-05s were under $700 shipped from that big auction site (used 10% live cashback).

I have a set on the way for $812 shipped from DTD, which I thought was a good price.
