Help me decide on a chassis bar / harness bar
Ok, guys. I need your help again.
My Z06 is being built next week , and I am converting the car to a "targa". One of my solutions to stiffen the chassis to recover the amount lost as a result of removing the roof is to install a harness or chassis bar.
I intend to keep the stock seats and use the stock seat belts.
I am not a high performance driver. No track use.
I am a very big driver, 6'5" and closer to 300 lbs than I wish I were. I drive my C5 with the seat all the way back and fully reclined.
I am looking for an option that is both functional and stylish.
I have researched several models (Pfadt, Hardbar, Sharkbar, MTI, LG, etc.).
What I need now is some good input from those of you who have experience with these systems, pros and cons, etc. Pictures would be helpful.
As always, your input is very much appreciated

Hey Tom,
You can not go wrong with the Hardbar system....Nice piece and used by many on here. Hardbar also has the "extender" that allows the bar to be moved back a bit. You would want this too....
Let me know if you have any questions, there is a guy here at the museum who has a Sharkbar I think, so you may want to take a look at that..

I have installed both hardbar and BK and frankly the Hardbar is easier to install, looks to be beefier/stronger and weighs less.
It also gives more room in the coupe area.
These factors made me switch from BK to hardbar in my car. Nothing wrong with the BK, but the Hardbar is better IMHO.

Are different seats catagorically off the table? If not, then my vote
is that switching these may provide a satisfactory solution for less
initial cost, zero structural impact and no harm to the eventual resale
value that a Targa conversion seems to entail.
Member ghoffman (Hardbar) offers very nice adapters for mounting
many types of seats.

I am 6'4" and require my seat set back similar to you. You will need a bar that is offset back to avoid any interference with the seat. On my 08 Coupe I originally tried the Hardbar with the extenders but could not get it to work successfully. I then went with the Sharkbar which was a great fit, strong, well engineered, easy to install and looked factory after the install. So that would be my recommendation.

I have the Sharkbar
I have the Sharkbar and use it for my harness. It took me the better part of a day to take my time and install it alone by myself. It was not "difficult" to install, but did take some time. If you have the seat all the way back and fully reclined, you will not hit this bar. It is very simple and I think looks good in the car...
