Well that was disappointing. :(
I went to the http://www.renegademiata.net/ autox at Devens,MA yesterday.
I used to love comming to their events.
I used to tell everyone you put on the best events.
Well, I'm sorry to say yesterday was very disappointing.
That had to be the most confusing course I've ever been on, and I've been autoxing for 10 years all over the country! Even with an instructor, I couldn't figure it out. All they said was "you missed that one", I guess I should have stopped back up and had him point it out. But that would have just RED flagged the person behind me and ruined their day.
And it wasn't just me. I called in several off courses when I was out working. And they weren't all new people either.
That said, I hope everyone made it home OK in the rain, driving home on autox tires was fun to say the least.
If all autox's were like that, I'd go drag racing instead!
I'll post a video later to see if anyone else can figure it out!

Ok--some courses suck.
You had a bad time.
Now was the course no fun, or were you influenced by your DNF's ?
I know probably both.
----------------------------------
Ever go on a blind date. Ever go out with a fat, ugly chick ?
Maybe the next blind date you go on the girl will have a great body, with giant ***** and give you.........
BUT YOU WON'T KNOW IF YOU DON'T GO !
-------------------------------------------
PS----one way to make sure you don't get any better is to give it up

Instructor
As posted to the local NER list by Brian:
"As, stated, I took and instructor with me .... 3 TIMES!
Well perhaps that was the problem. I got talked into volunteering for the gate duty, which corresponeded? with the walk thru. so I only got to walk it once.
Brian"
You certainly have the right to choose another instructor. That being said, often times if you drive over your head and don't have any idea where your going then this is going to happen. Better to throw one run away to find the course than to DNF all 6 times and tell anyone who will listen that you had bad day.
You had a choice of 5 instructors there yesterday. Did you take the same one all 3 times? Not having walked that course more than once certainly raised your chance of getting lost.
Renegade's courses have a reputation of being some of the best organized and challenging in the region. Yes, they usually have more cones than you'll find anywhere else but MANY have come to appreciate that fact when it comes to a more "open" course. They simply find it easier to remember.

My reply to you on the list
I have no intension of stopping autoxing.
I'll just never go with your club again.
Dude, I was CRAWLING out there.
If there was more cones, I don't think I would have had an issue.
Especially at the turn onto the next section coming back.
I had a different instructor each time.
No in-cars with instructors, but I have 1 dry run and 2 ones in the wet
I'll post it on the list.

I too sadly will never autox with your club again----wait-----I never did once.
It gets me very upset that I would have to drive like 28 hours to one of your "local events".
I find this in and of itself ridiculous-----
Now if you would transport my car up there for me, and fly me first class, and give me a free ticket for my co-driver----then I might go to one of your events. But I am still not really % 100 sure.
However if you throw in a couple of Hookers and promise not to tell my wife---well in this case, then I think I could see my way to make one of your events.
Thanks

I don't know if I could watch that course again.
I just threw up. Got very dizzy-----CONSTANTLY going back and forth, looked like there was a manuver every 20 feet--
IMO.....don't worry if you went off course, because no one can watch that video without getting seasick.
Don't know what that was at the end---maybe that was the gate ?
(who's going to help me clean up the vomit on my screen ?)

You think they had enough slalom's in that course... honestly, that does not look like a fun course at all.
No speed, constantly in a slalom with alot of slow turnarounds... I almost got sick watching the video too. I didn't see alot of pointer cones which would've helped made the course a little clearer.

For comparison, same facility, different event.
Despite leaving my race tires home, a very enjoyable time.
I didn't care that my times were off because I left my race tires home.
That's the LAST of a problem there.

Well, I decided to show up to support my customers and to just hang out for a while with friends. I have to say, Auto-X is not my cup of tea, but hell, I have raced sailboats so I will race anything even if it is slow(er). Having said that, this course looked like no fun, and extremely confusing. The #1 thing in any car race (road race, circle track, dirt late models or Auto-X) is to hit your marks, but I would have had zero clue as to what my marks were supposed to be. Running my C6Z there would have been like running a 747 at the Reno air races! It was great to see everyone though, but I will keep going to NHMS, Lime Rock, etc.
