Advice on coilovers
I was informed by John Shiels to use an electric saw to cut out my leaf springs before releasing the tension on my C6Z06. I guess it's his way of making it easier for me to install coil overs. Any feed back would help

Uhhh... that's the first I've heard of that one...
It would work though. There's more than on way to skin a cat.

I would think that you put the car on jack stands then use a floor jack to take the tension off the springs and undo the bolts to loosen it up for removal.
It was a PITA when I did this on a C4 but never done it on a C5. Although I am in the middle of a mod fest on my car now as the rear cradle assy etal is on my garage floor right now. Removing the spring would not be hard at this point.....hmmm...

I just disconnected the shocks to take the tension off. Pop the four bolts holding the spring and you're done. Fight it out a bit from under the car and they're both all in one piece for sale or to go back in later.

Why would you cut something that you could potentially sell and offset help offset the cost of coil overs?
Whenever I remove (front) leaf spring I use a jack and a wooden 4x4, first remove the sway bar links end links, then put the jack and 4x4 under the balljoint, then remove the lower shock bolts (Caution!!!! removing the shock bolts will relase more tension than you think so be ready!)
Then remove the nut from the lower A-arm, and break the balljoint free (I typically turn the wheel and use a long pry bar between the A-arm and lower part of the knuckle, repeat on the oposite side then remove the center bolts.
The rear spring couldn't be easier, just a jack the 4x4 and all you have to do is remove the spring bolts then the 4 center bolts. Very little drama back there.

He probably wanted to see if he could acutally get someone to saw through a perfectly good, and might I add expensive to replace, piece of their car. Even if you don't want them, someone else might. Remove them the right way and put 'em up FS.

Well that is certainly one way of doing it.
I have found the easiest way would be to pull the shocks off of the car, and then remove one of the lower ball joints and pulling the spring out via one side of the car after the mounting plates have been removed.

Now he said his roof is blowing off. Impossible when you only hit 65 mph at Pocono down the front straight!
