1st C5 autocross tomorrow...I'm ready
...car checked and prepped
...1/2 tank of gas
...fluids all changed
...1/2 qt add'l oil
...Bringing all the stuff needed for me and the car
And the final touch:
I'll post an (honest) follow-up. Should be interesting to see how the C5 differs from a 1995 Impala SS and a 1970 MGB in autox
Thanks to the forum for all the C5-specific tips!

I was told to either have 1/4 tank of gas or less, or be almost full. The sloshing of gas back and forth in turns could upset the car some. I don't know how much of that would hurt you, but I usually try to stay about 1/4 tank or less. Also, thats less weight in the car too.

Complete bust
First run group that was supposed to go off at 9 just started at 11:30 or so. Last group of the day was slated to go off around 5 (instead of around 2) and I just couldn't make that work. 3 hours on the road for 6 hours standing and 0 runs.
Seems like the local informal club is just too popular The fields were REALLY big.

Man, I am really sorry to hear that you got shut out of your very first event. I hope you at least got some good talk-time with your local competitors about the sport, your car and some auto-x'ing tips.
When there's a lot of downtime between runs, I always find it valuable to spectate from as many vantage points as possible. It helps to keep the course 'fresh' in your mind after a long delay, while studying the most important turns from different angles can be beneficial if you're having trouble figuring out a specific part of the course. You never stop learning in this sport.
That assumes that you will EVENTUALLY get to actually drive the course, though...
Don't despair - just try again, and you'll get your day.

Not a big deal - I think they just got overloaded; it happens.
Very few SCCA Solo events around here; the more "informal" groups have far more events, but the rules are pretty loose so it's really just about seat time.
Not whining; just wanted to close it out. Next one is on the 28th!
