Default I need transmission help

I have an 02 Z06 which is now down to one gear, 4th. Oh, I can get it into neutral also. The car only has 27,000 miles and half a dozen track days on it. After doing some reading I suspect I am probably dealing with a bent aluminium shift fork. My local dealer has never rebuilt one of these so I'm not interested in paying for that learning curve at $90 bucks an hour. So I need a plan, but do I go with rebuilt or new? And I need a shop that knows what they are doing. I'm located six hours north of Chicago and will trailer the car. Help!

Call D&D Transmissions in Wixom, MI.

They do all T56 work. I had the Viper steel fork installed and checked out I think for $250. I took them the trans though. They have another shop 2 doors down that does the mechanical work if you want the trans swapped out.

Might as well plan for a better clutch too...considering 90 percent of the labor in a clutch is getting the trans out and in a C5 its a big job, do the clutch now. An extra 300-400 today or tack on another 600-900 in labor to do it later on.

A properly rebuilt transmission IMO is better than a factory unit. A factory unit goes down an assembly line, a rebuild is hand built and someone is probably paying better attention to what is going on.

Find a local mechanic to get the trans out & freight it to RPM trans. I think they are in Indiana.

Thanks for the help guys. DRM is probably a shorter haul for me so I think I will call them. I know the others mentioned are fine shops.

I think you should reconsider. RPM is the place to go for a t56

Before polish

after polish

I had them do the level 5 upgrade on the trans which is a polish, and some other things like better forks and some other stuff. Also did rear end and torque tube.... put in new Spec Clutch also and a new shifter,

Would highly reccomend you pull the trans and send it tp RPM...
