Default Who has raced at Lime Rock?

Does your car get so lite over the hill that it would be possible to hit that guard rail on the left side?

You better have the wheel straight when you get to the top of the hill or you're in for some trouble.

(I did the Skip Barber school there in '99.)

Definately wheel straight over the hill, 80-90mph is enough to make the traction control come on if you use it, but not enough to catch air. They've added more paved run-off area to the outside of the corner too. The pic in my avitar is taken on the uphill corner at LRP... good fun!

I never raced at LRP, but I did plently of HPDE's there.
The CAR and the WHEEL need to be STRAIGHT.

usually if you lose it at the top of the hill its bcus the driver did not fully straighten the wheel & the go into the RIGHT side on the flat part on top

On the hill itself the suspension is compressed so you have better grip so its unlikely the car will go off to the left there

Since the track was repaved it was slippery when I ran there a few weeks ago

Skip told me that the slipperyness will go away eventually

Engine will zing going over as the car will lift off the ground. Straight is the word when you leave and land

Lime Rock is a L O N G way from Reno

which event are you attending ? what car are you driving ?

Best hotel nearby is the Interlakken, I think its in Salisbury, CT

LRP was recently repaved so its nice & smooth

turn 1 is a double apex

in the esses you want to be way over on the left side to set up for the R hander that leads to the back straight

downhill is a rush

Entering the Uphill turn the suspension is compressed fully. Going over the hill you need to have the steering wheel straight as the suspension does unload and the car does get rather light. I could feel the wheelspin and I am in 4th gear.

Last year (2007) on my sixth lap of qualifying I did NOT have the wheel straight and the car snapped on me and backed into the gaurdrail on the driver's right. Not pretty.

I can attest to that.
I have only run Lime Rock on iRacing. I've wrecked a few Solstice cars there. I would be extra cautious if I was in a real car.

My car is pretty mild and absolutely unloads the tires. As mentioned, you have to have to have to HAVE to come over the rise straight. I made that mistake once the first time I was there and almost crashed.

The uphill is at 43 seconds, nothing but blue sky.

L98 Terror in a Stock Z06, at 51 seconds and again at 3.23 seconds, you can see it unload the whole suspension.

Thats the tricky part, if you go too far to the left and come over the hill, your left wheels are in the grass at the top. If you try to cut back to the right and come over the hill crooked, it gets hairy.

Yep, keep it about a car width and a half off the left side, wheels straight, t.c. off, and pray no one is sideways in the track after you come over the top. (somehow it's more fun than it sounds!)

I always thought that station needs two flaggers to watc each way.

It's a bit better now after the paving, they've added additional flag stations, but I agree, if it's minimally staffed then it's tough for the outside flagger to know what's going on over the hill. They also added brake zone signs (6, 5, 4, etc.) going in, a good improvement.

I ran my first HPDE there when I had my heads/cam GTO. It's a fun, fun, fun little track I can't wait to go back with the Z.

As others have said, yes get the car completely straight. I had the wheel slightly turned coming out of the turn into the uphill one lap and man the car got squirrely haha

Here's a shot of something you might expect going over that hill lol (not my old GTO btw! though I wish)
