Man that was a blast.
Peter, a new member of the Bay State Corvette Club brought his '70 454 big block coupe, complete with side pipes to the autox today. At 1st he wanted me to ride along and give him some pointers, then he offered to let me drive it.
Gave him, his daughter, and her boyfriend all rides.
Even got Peter to shave 10secs off his times.
Good times where had by all!
Man what a blast, that's the car that got me interesting in Corvettes to begin with, and I got to not just drive, but compete in it!

Peter's car was running pretty good that day. Save vapor lock issues with the filter. Peter was hoping for some forum help with that.
Unfortunately I was having some issues with my camera's mounting hole yesterday. I've got some inboard videos of my car making a run, one with Peter in the car, but no stills of his car that day.
Here's an old cell phone pic I took two meetings ago though.
I'll post the videos up later.
He just bought a smallblock C3, so he's tossing around the idea of keeping the BB car as his drag car, and making the SB car as an autox car.
My car on the other hand is done for the season
Nothing terminal, I just blew one of my front seals.
Since I'll need to pull the everything apart, I might as well put the blower on.

That was really awesome. I've never had a chance to drive the car hard to see what is is really like. It's always been sneaking around the roads getting on it here and there for a few seconds or 13 secs at the drag strip 13.1 @ 107 was my best time so far with two attempts (my first ever) at drag racing. My goal there is to get into the 12's and now that the bad torque converter and new tranny are in it runs much better. I'm sure it will get 12's now.
It was so much fun to be able to put it to my limit on the course (and over ....
sideways for fun :-) ).
Before I got there I was a little worried as to how bad I would be compared to the high tech cars there. The C3 was a hit even if it doesn't run with the new stuff. It was cool to be the only classic there and people really liked it.
My intent was to just run and have some fun, boy did I ever. My daughter showed up, rode in some cars, had a blast and told me how cool my hobbies were compared to her mother's "refinish this board" offers.
My face hurt from smiling so much!
I got home and registered for Sept 28ths outing.
It would really be cool if some other BSCC owners would get there cars out.
Yohoo members, where are you?? :-)

No, if I run the 70, its on old school spinalicious BFG 235/60/15's. I told Kevin that if I run the 70, he has to run his AC Cobra instead of the Z06 for a nose heavy, traction limted, dinosaur suspension class.
