Default PCA run groups compared to NASA?

PCA HPDE's run 4 groups (white green blue black). What is the experience level for each group?

Thanks.

I'm in HPDE3 with NASA. I'm guessing the white group is comparable?

Well it really depends on which Zone/chapter you're running with and how flexible they are. I know several of them want to see how safe you are and if you're capable of running with their rungroups at their paces...

Not trying to start a huge debate here, but "some" of the chapters out there run at a faster pace than others... It really depends on the group you're going to run with...

the goal is to show them you are not reckless, and not trying to set new track records.

PCA may have a ban on stop watches and timing devices. I know the BMW club does not allow it.

Insurance reasons for both the host club and participants. Individual's insurance polices may not cover them if they are in a 'timed' event. So many clubs do not allow timing.

It wouldn't matter for me anyway since I'm always by myself. I doubt I could run a stopwatch accurately at speed if I tried.

I was with the PCA at VIR last Thursday. Also did Lowes back in July with them. Small run groups and strict rules. They also seem to be reasonably priced and well run with plenty of track time. They always let me run intermediate solo (Yellow) at VIR which is cool.

I've run 90% of my HPDE events with PCA ( RRR in GA) I've also run with NASA and Chin. PCA is definitely the most conservative of the three and in my opinion that's a good thing.

Many of the PCA chapters in the SE are moving to registration via ClubRegistration.net or similar site. I'm a member of FL Crown region and we were just discussing the issues with putting non-members in the appropriate class last weekend at Roebling. It's important to provide them with as much detail in your profile as possible about your level of experience ie. # of events, # of tracks, schools etc so they put you in the right group.

My region would likely put you in white to start and would allow you to do a check ride to move into black if your experience and comfort level warranted. The definitely want to know you aren't a hazard first.

Crown, Citrus, Dark Side, and Peach State are all great folks and very glad to have Vettes out on the track for a little good natured rivalry.

And I still crack up when I called from home to an instructor at Roebling one time - and he answered - I asked him where he was -- and his answer was in the right hand seat of his student's car -- at turn 5.....

You'll find you are welcome at most events at RRR - have any questions just ask the organizers...
