Grand am prep 2 corvette build
We have started construction of a C6 Prep 2 tube frame Corvette for the Grand Am Rolex series.
The car will be a square tube chassis, powered by a Schwanke Racing Engines Grand Am spec LS6, with an EMCO tranny, and a Mittler Bros.
fabricated Ford 9 inch type rear end.
about 2600# without driver
3 link, with a watts link,
coil over with Penske shocks and probably Performance Friction calipers, rotors and pads.
Howe upper and lower a frames, SWEET rack and CCW wheels.
WE NEED A C6 COWL/WINDSHIELD FRAME AND CHEVROLET CURRENTLY HAS NONE AVAILABLE AND WE HAVE NOT FOUND ONE YET FROM SALVAGE.
DOES ANYBODY HAVE A SOURCE?
WE ARE LOCATED IN DAYTONA BEACH.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Bosco

Thanks Gary, We are using SWEET fabricated spindle/upright. I'll check with my car builder and see if those might work. They must be two piece, 4 piston for GA.

Sure, I'll try to do that.
No big secrets, the chassis will be somewhat similar to SCCA GT-1, but narrower per the rules. This will be a "limited budget" build and I do mean limited. Nothing hi tech, more in the crude but effective category.

Bosco,
Did you try any of the online corvette salvage guys? Don't see anything specific to your needs but found a hand full of places that sell Corvette Salvage parts by going to yahoo, google, msn, etc. and typing in "salvage c6 corvette".
Also may want to ask Troy at Spirit of Daytona. I know he doesn't do anything with Corvette's anymore but the GTO's he built were salvage cars so maybe he might have some suggestions.

Haven't talked to Troy about it yet. Crandall from S.O.D. will be our engine tuner.
I have tried a bunch of the Vette salvage guys. I have been contacted by a member that has a cowl/windshield frame.

Matt, the 24 hrs is a goal....but a long shot. We will need some funded drivers and or sponsor help to do it. If everything went perfectly it could happen, but......

Chief Bosco, you need any help with brake lines and such? Let me know.
Hmm, I happen to know a driver or two as well. Just don't put that little guy in the seat, he'll need a phone book to see over the steering wheel.

I have a C6 Frame if you want to come up and remove it. I will make you a sweet deal on it, I am getting ready to whack the upper frame off it as it is also a race car, but I am not going to run the windshield frame.

Thanks all,
Todd, where ya been, are ya'll ever goin racin again? I'll let ya know about them drivers, I probably won't be able to afford to drive my own car.
Justin, sounds good, I'll give you a call.

Ordered the rack, steering column, and a bunch of other parts from SWEET yesterday, and will probably order the 9 inch from Mittler today.
Dragging our GTA and SPO Monte Carlo's over to Daytona this weekend to try to sell. Hate to sell these, they are very fast, fun to drive, relatively inexpensive racers. We will build the Vette and then later build another stock car road racer.
Spoke with Justin from ZIP yesterday who provided some good insight and info.
