Default What grease for C5 caliper slides?

I need to know what grease can hold up to the heat... C5 front calipers... they are brand new, as are the brackets. The slide pins come separate, and do not come greased.

I've got some Mobil 1 wheel bearing grease, but it's only good to 350 degrees. What am I supposed to use on these slide pins?

Just to clarify, these are the pins that bolt to the caliper and slide back and forth in the abutment bracket, allowing the caliper to float back and forth.

I just use the stuff that is on the counter at autozone or advanced auto parts, etc. ... use it on the pins, and on the pad guides top and bottom.

I had been using Permatex Anti-Seize. However, for the last couple of years I haven't been using anything and it doesn't seem to matter.

Just make sure it's clean and free of dirt/rust.

That's what it's supposed to do ... I find it's fine on the pins; gets baked a bit on the caliper end guide "ears" that slide in the guide slots.

I've used the clear green "synthetic" stuff that Permatex makes, and had nothing but problems with it. I take the slide pins out half way through the season, and it looks like caked on mud.

I now use the CRC Synthetic Brake Caliper grease (also sold under the name Sta-lube). It comes in a little plastic tub, or a squeeze tube (very convenient, and I leave it in my toolbox now). I picked it up at NAPA. I've run two seasons now with this stuff, and it holds up very well. I actually started using it on the recommendation of other forum members. Try it...I think you'll like it.

I use this stuff because I have it lying around:
AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Racing Grease, NLGI #2

I haven't had any problems, but I change my pads pretty often when I'm tracking, so these pins get greased a lot.

I actually have some of that stuff too, and was thinking of using it. Thanks for the warning.
