Are these tires toast? Kuhmo V710s
A couple of things - I am right at the wear bar, but across the tire, the 'dimples' still have some depth in them.
Second, it looks like I cut the surface of the tire while pulling on the trailer - The reason I think the trailer did it is because if it happened on the track, I think I may have seen whatever it was I ran over, and I think any more time on the track with that cut would have smoothed out the edges.
The cut is only about 1/8", and it doesn't go 'in', it's at a slight angle. I don't see cords or steel or anything like that - And it hasn't lost any air....

Besides the seperation issue with these tires, they have definite life left in them. I have used 710's until there were no discernable groves. So my advice is run them till they cord and these are not at that point. You can also flip them around and run the grooves on the outside of the tread with no issues at all to increase the life of the tire.

Tread splice gap, not a big deal. I had it happen to one tire just a few weeks ago at the Solo Natls, first time I have had it happen in over three years. I noticed it after the first day of competition on one of my rears, so I moved it to the front the next day, the splice started to close up.
Anytime you see this starting try moving the tire to another location on the car, or so it is going the other direction, this should prevent it from getting worse.

Thanks for the advice...I'll try flipping them, and see if it'll seal up..
I'm going to use these for one more day this Friday, and if you want them, they're yours for the price of shipping. There will be 4- 315/35/17's.

Yup - us budget racers who run pre-owned Kumho's have to pay close attention to this. I swap sides of the car on a race weekend every single session - keeps the seam delamination nicely at bay. Other than that, those tires are spring chickens!!

No need to flip it or get rid of them. If it was left move it to the right side - or if you have a square setup move it front to rear, or vise versa. All you need to do is change the direction of the tires rotation. If you were to flip it but then still have it work the splice in the same direction it will still open.

years ago we called that "The Kumho Crack". It was very common on the Victor Racers.
Run them till they cord, and then run them 1 more session after that until the steel belts show.
I have never seen 1 delaminate from the crack.

This crack seems to be common on V710s. My first set on V710s after one autox did this. I almost sh*t.
Contacted dealer and Kumho who reasuured me they were OK. A couple of years ago Kumho had a recall on certain tires and mine were not part of the recall.
I ran this until I corded them.

I've gone through quite a few sets of Kumho 710s, and I think most of them developed the tread splice. Those are still good - run 'em!
