base c6 rotor v/s c5 z06 rotor
The rotors on the base c6 (z51 are larger) are the same size as the c5z will I still need the caliper brackets to use the cheaper c5z rotors.

No. If you have a base C6 you already have the correct brackets to run the C5 rotors.
