LG/Whelen World Challenge COrvette C5 for sale
Hi guys,
My 2004 Corvette C5 World Challenge car run by Whelen Engineering is for sale and the price is right!
The Whelen Team put a fresh new Carbon fiber body on it and improved and added a bunch of good parts to the car. It was never crashed and it has been fast even when they pulled it out as a spare. Engine is a fresh Hutter, which is a real strong engine.
It really has the best of everything.
This car is one of our LG World Challenge cars that we sold to Whelen engineering racing. It was driven by Eric Curran, Sonny Whelen, Lou Gigliotti and Todd Bodine at one time or another.
I am not totally sure about the races it won or not but I can tell you that on its maiden voyage at Sebring in 2004, it ran a 2:10.4 for the outside pole position. Bodine and Eric Curran also ran the car at Long Beach and in 2008, Eric was 3rd fastest in testing at Long Beach , so it is still a potent car.
The best WC C-5 ever built is available--------- $125,000. Plenty of History!
LG Motorsports/Whelen World Challenge Corvette C-5
Driven by Curran, Gigliotti, Bodine, & Whelen.
Complete Carbon Fiber body, Motec Dash,
Fresh Hutter engine--- $35k Alum 530hp LS6,
Alcon 6 piston Brakes,
Bilstein shocks,
LG headers,
Forgeline wheels,
Billet Drop Spindles
Transmission is an M6 (at least it was)
Spherical bearing suspension
Sway bars built into the frame (through the frame on needle bearings)
This is also the car that did the 140mph 1/4 mile run see video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrYJDCoQSnM
Photos below of the car and what we built back when it was new in 2004. Sonny Whelen bought it and is one of 4 cars in their fleet, so this is the one to leave.
This is a great opportunity becuause we know what it would cost to build another one like it.
Contact: Me, Lou Gigliotti at 972-429-1963 or
Whelen team head: Teddy Marsh 860-460-7064, marshracing@sbcglobal.net
This IS the car below. It is now in Whelen Engineering Red/white colors and totally fresh.
THis photo below shows how we did the front suspension and sway bar but it is a later chassis

Yes,
They were the only engine shop that could build an engine that competed with our North Carolina CRD Engine shop.
Hutter was the king of the v6 gm engines, and then they dominated Bush series.
Like I said, this is a really competitive and fairly priced car. Better deal than most track cars with much less.

anyone interested can also email me at Lou@LGMotorsports.com

Le Mans Master
I met Ron and his gang at Nelson Ledges a few years ago. Real nice guy, and I was impressed with his knowledge of GM LS motors.
He plugged Tom Sloe (as in not so slow) into his yellow T1 C5 and the car just scoots. Tom and I were going to have an epic showdown this past Memorial Day weekend until I botched the qualifying run...

Maybe we get a second chance this year.

The engine is worth $35k, the body is another $25k and the other parts that they put into it including labor run another 50k.
So the move here is to "RAISE" it $100k to $225 but they want to sell it because they have 4 cars now.
TO put it into perspective, the red chassis with relocated pick up points and shock mounts plus the full chassis roll cage (At LG Motorsports) is priced at $75,000. That is with nothing but what you see.
Having said that, you are free to make them an offer but I would get close to the number if you are serious.

Guys,
I don't own this car anymore, but I can tell you that you will not get a more complete car with NO compromises. not anywhere.
AND I bet if you make them a good offer, you will get the car. So step up to the plate before you spend twice as much for half the car.
This is a real race car from stock Corvette chassis up, not a street car built up but a started with a Corvette chassis and making it into a pure race car.
Thanks
Lou G

Guys,
Make them a reasonable offer and I bet you can get the car.
This is a 4th car in their line up of cars. But I do know that they want to sell it so take advantage of this. It would cost you over $200,000 to replace.
