295 on front stockers? I've been tracking 275s on front stock wagonwheels, no prob, but they just touch my Z06 brake ducts at full lock. You can go 305s on the 19x9.5" rears.

I'm currently using 285f / 315r A6's on OEM forged C6 wheels.
Assuming you're talking about Hoosiers, be aware that 285/18 A6's are the same width as 295's. The only differences are the 295's are taller and have a higher load rating (the 285's are really short lil' spuds ). GJ Dixon has also tried both of these front sizes.
I've mounted BOTH 285's & 295's easily on stock C6 fronts. You'll obviously lose some effective width when mounting them on skinny wheels, but they still work great. And that's just the price we pay to play in classes limited to stock wheel size.
BTW - Stock C6 wheels are 18x8.5f and 19x10r (not 19x9.5").

Marty - I guess it bears repeating - all STOCK GM rear C6 wheels are 19x10's, NOT 19x9.5. C6Z06's use a 19x12r.
As for your question - I think it has already been answered... \/
GJ Dixon finished 6th at the SCCA Solo II Nationals last year in an '08 Z51 on 295/315's mounted on stock wheels. Most national-level Mazda RX-8 stock-class autocrossers (other then Jason Isley) use 285's quite successfully on 18x8" wheels, and the front-heavy Shelby Mustangs run 295's on 18x8.5 fronts. You also have confirmation here and in your other tire size thread that they WILL fit and work well on a stock C6. "Pylons" has even verified that you could fit 325's in the rear if you want.
My TireRack-associated local installer told me that they were not terribly difficult to mount on my OEM forged wheels. That was surprising, but I won't argue with success.
Finally, click on the thumbnails below to view some Photobucket pics of 295's mounted on my C6Z51. The car currently has -2.0 negative camber in front, which helps to ensure they clear the fender, but you'll need that much camber (or MORE) to be competitive, anyway. There is PLENTY of clearance inside the wheelwells, too.
Only pay attention to the 7 pics in this folder that start with '295-R6s-on-Front-Wheels' in the name. There are also shots of CCW 18x10f/18x11r C10's that I currently use for HPDE's with 275/305 Toyo RA1's mounted. I will probably go to wider tires when I get my next set of DE tires.
Those manufacturers' sizing charts are only intended to give you RECOMMENDED wheel sizes - for when you can choose a wheel size that best accommodates the tire sizes you intend to use. Within reason, this DOES NOT really apply when you run in a class that limits the allowed wheel sizes, or when you simply can't afford to buy the 'perfect' setup. Personally, I think a 295/315 or 285/315 combo would be a great place to start...

Track Junky
Hate to raise the dead here, but can someone list the specific Hoosier A6 tire sizes for stock C6 rims?
Looks like 295/30/18 and 315/30/19? They are 25.3" and 26.1" diameter respectively. That will not allow to run in comp mode on the track. The 285/30/18 is 24.9" diameter and would maintain the 1.2" difference required to avoid TC issues on the track.

I run the 295 / 315 combo on CCWs and the computer can deal with it just fine.
285s on OEM wheels are very skinny and will crown more...
BTW - the ~ 1.2 difference is an issue of rake, not TC. I raised my back a turn or two to address. (or lowered the front, can't remember)

I like the look of the additional width, but do you lose anything in lap times or stability due to any mushrooming of the contact patch?
