C6 race tires option
Looking to get some race tires for my non Z06 C6 on the stock wheels. Other than the A6, R6 and the R888, are there any other options? The 19" rear seems to be a huge problem. I ran the R888 last year, but I found the grip to be so-so. They also lost its grip after a moderate amount of heat cycles compare to the RA1. I am just looking for a tire that grips and last longer with just as much grip, is there such thing? I contacted BFG, they said they wont make the R1 in 19s.

What pressures did you run in the R888s? I've been told they like higher pressures than the RA1s... I keep adding pressure and they keep getting better, both stick and wear...

Ran them at 29-31psi. When they were newer, I thought they stuck okay. It seem to be good as it had heat and was around 180F tire pressure. If I go higher in pressure, I would assume I wouldn't get the same amount of heat generated? R888 might be the only option (or folk for the Cups with another $300) as the A6 and R6 require trailer. I used to be able to drive 600 miles to the track and back on the RA1 with no issues, not going to happen in the C6 on the R888

I have no problems driving the R888s long distances and still having them stick fine. I have thousands of street miles on mine as well as a couple of wekeends.
I emailed the guys at AIM Tire earlier this summer, though... their comments were "Low pressure, say starting at 27 lbs and ending at about 33 lbs will SEEM good until one tries the higher pressures" and "don't be afraid to find that you'll need over 40 lbs hot. But not more than 48 lbs hot." They sent me a follow-up email about having gone tire testing with the R888s in the rain with a bunch of Spec Miata guys -- folks were trying to drop pressure to build more heat and finding they were losing grip. Add pressure back, get more grip.
Before I talked to these guys I was starting ~28 and finishing mid-30s. I bumped the starting pressure up to ~33 and gained a tonne of grip (and feel). I'm going to try even higher starting pressures...
Then I'll be begging Phoenix or somebody to tell me how to disconnect the over-pressure alarm on the DIC! I assume the answer will be not to run TPMS sensors, though...
Don't give up on the R888s yet; they're a different animal from the RA1s.

I bought my tires new in April. When September rolls around, I was running around the same time as the run flats. I guess I will try the higher tire pressure route since I can't get any other tires arggg
