Default T1 spring Part number/ Casting number questions
Hey guys, quick question:

I'm selling my old T1 springs, and in raised lettering on the springs are the numbers: 22188479 and 22188480

The GM part numbers for the T1 springs are 12480063 and 12480064

I found this information from the forums:

What I/the buyer want to know is why GM has different part numbers/ casting numbers. And under scrutiny by an SCCA official, will they know that these are legal T1 springs?

might want to check google. Mine were weird as well. I guess there are "older" t1 springs and newer ones. However, anyone with SCCA should know.

FWIW The raised casting numbers embeded 22188479 front spring and 22188480 rear spring seen in the T1 springs have been confirmed by another forum member who received T1 springs from GM.

There is a new and old spring
from what I remember, the spring rates are the same.

The new ones allow you to lower the car further down as well.

I just made my last post to complete the resource. I have old springs and the new springs appear to use the same casting numbers. I have not heard of old springs vs new T1 springs. There was a rear T1 swaybar change where the old one was not adjustable and the new one has 3 adjustment holes. The front T1 bar did not change to my knowledge.

I asked Jeff Kopp at Superior measure the rear bar end to end for length, (same) and measure outside link mounting holes (same). The 'new' holes are inside the old bar mounting holes, therefore, the adjustablity is firmer only. Would have been nice to have a softer option too.

Real question is did the wall thickness change to actually make the `old' holes softer than before? Only a hacksaw and some cash will know for sure. :-)

Good point. I am working under the assumption the bars are of the same diameter and thickness........will get with my resident expert to confirm...........

Jeff tells me the bars are the same with the exception of the two additional holes............
