If my car ever gets done I'm going to head down to Road Atlanta and I been practicing on Forza. Seems like I'm going to be much slower in real life.
Ran a 1:25 in a similarly set up car, I'm thinking I'll be more like 1:35-1:38 if it's dry

I've got PS3 and GT5. I drive so aggressively that I end up turning poor lap times. My wife is always giving me crap about driving through the grass too.

I wish they would do Mosport on Forza 2, because I've wondered the same thing you are ... I find though that real world imputs of the car, track, sights and sounds gives me a more complete feeling for the track, and I feel a lot more in control on the real track ... with Forza I find it too easy to lose focus / concentration, and then getting into trouble.
If you ever want to join our Sunday morning racing (Corvette Forum Guys vs Renlist Porsche Guys) ... keeps an eye on the Canadian section ... here is our main thread.

Having finally had the opportunity to run it in real life, I have to say real life. In Forza I can afford more car then I have in real life but in the real world I can actually feel the cars inputs and adjust how I respond.
That's not to say that I'm any good as a driver, I just suck worse at video games.

I have a lot of laps around Sebring in a C5 Z06.
I cannot even keep the C5 Z06 in Forza II pointed straight. There is no way in real life if you are going in a straight line in 3rd gear and you give it gas the car spins uncontrollably. You can floor the car and it will not spin. It's no wonder the video game gen likes front wheel drive cars.

I'm old-school so I've only got an XBox - not the 360. But, I built what I would consider a pretty reasonable car comparable to one in T1 trime and ran 1:31's or so at Road Atlanta, so that's pretty close!
Biggest difference to me is that in real life the track seems much more narrow than in the game. Passing through the Esses in the game is an obvious move - notsomuch in real life!!

GTR2, IRacing, Rfactor, WTCC
Keep in mind, they aren't perfect. But they are certainly better than Gran Turismo or anything you get on the xbox or playstation.
GTR2 has the C6 race car, Iracing is developing a C6-R also. I like iracing because of the ease of use, but GTR2 was fun also. Rfactor was annoying as you have to keep going to different sites to download different patches and upgrades.
Here are some comparsion. In real life, I did a 1:02 in my 350Z at LRP. In Iracing, I did 59 sec in the Skip Barber car. I did VIR in the Skippy in Iracing in 2:13. In real life, 350z @ 2:17 and C6 @ 2:09 / 2:13

And to answer the "faster in real life or game" question - I am a little faster around MSR Houston in rFactor than in real life, and it i mostly because the track surface/camber/bumps are not all correctly modelled so you end up going faster that you could in real life on certain sections. I would guess that is part of the reason people are faster in game most times (not withstanding that you can't crash and burn in-game )

Hah-hah, nice. I just got the wheels and pedals, I'm slower than I used to be but I'm getting faster quickly. Just need to get used to the brakes and how sensitive the wheel is.

This is our racing rig, setup to use the 60" HD. The PC is a water cooled core 2 duo 3ghz 4gb ram Nvida 8800GT.
Runs rFactor at full specs 30+ cars on screen in full HD.
Dual PlaySeats, TrackIR and G25 Steering wheel make any PS3 an PC sim really immersive to play. XBox 360 games are so-so. the lack of clutch and H-gate shifter mean we usually play XBox360 games kicked back on the couch using the hand-held controllers.

I signed up for iRacing at Sebring when they had their deal going. I should have gotten the longer subscription cuz I love it. Ive already bought a new wheel/pedal setup with plans to get a better one later. Now I wanna build a 3 screen setup with my Corbeau Forza seat that I use at HPDEs. TrackIR is prolly the next thing Im gonna get.
