Default Nord-lock video

This is a video showing some vibration tests of some various bolt retention methods. We include Nordlocks on our rotors, bearing fastener kits, upper A-arm stud kits and many of our other products. I never use "locktite", except for studs. We stock them on all sizes.

That's a great video with some very good information. Thanks, Gary. That certainly answers my questions about 2-piece brake rotors. I would have liked to have seen how serrated washers and bolts compare but the bottom line is that they don't provide that extra clamping force as the fastener rotates so, clearly, the Nord-lock is better in that respect.

Yes, these are good. They seem to go a bit soggy after a few uses and
need to be replaced with new ones. When they're new you can feel them
clicking as they're tightened - when the edges get rounded that goes away.

No, and no. They are not available at Home Depot etc, and no we are not the only supplier but we do have them. We supply them on many of our products but if you want quantity, just google it. It so much more effective to have properly designed mounting surface (like a rotor) that permits bolt preload. Certainly they are demonstrably superior than using "wicking" thread locker glue after the nut is torqued
Maybe I am a geek, but I just prefer real test data over conjecture.

OK, by popular demand, we have started some kits. The first one is for the big (M14) brake caliper fasteners on C4-C6. The kit consists of (8) 14 mm Nordlocks, and with these you simply replace the OE washer with these and torque to the original spec. Do not use any threadlocker glue! Please let me know any any other kits that you would like me to put together. Thanks!

Gary - Looking for something that can replace the Wilwood hat safety wire. You figure that out I am in (and I am sure many of our customers that have Wilwood are in too).

hm. The GTO (same PBR brakes as the C5) comes from the factory with those
nord-lock washers on the M14 front brake caliper bolts. I wonder why GM did it
differently from the vette.

As far as I know those are the only nord-lock washers on the whole car.

Don't assume that GM is one monolithic block. Holden of Australia makes the GTO, essentially a separate Company. Certainly, they are at least a different group of engineers on each project and have different cultures and collective knowledge base. Nordlocks are at least 10x more money than a plain flat washer, and that is reason enough for some.
