Nice work Robert, is that a new toy for you or your brother?

I'll start with a set of rear rotors. Then we'll take it from there.

Bob, have you ever done a cage in a C6 Z06? Aluminum frame, steel cage...

How cool! When you cut the roof off like that where do you get the CF replacement roof? Do you sell those? Are you going to run a fuel cell in this car?

We have 2 sources for carbon fiber roofs for the C6. ACP and Blackdog Racing. If we do your cage, then we get it for you. If you are doing your own cage, you can buy them direct. They are not cheap, around $2300, but we think this is the correct way to do the car. This allows you to run the main hoop higher and gives you more headroom. This car is for a customer and he vasalates back and forth about the fuel cell. I believe he has decided to run the stock setup in the car.

It's interesting how different this cage is from what Pratt and Miller are using. Also Lou's car, which was built by Riley and Scott is also very different.

Richard,
I don't see much of the roll cage revealed in those pictures.

The GT2 picture show a very different door arrangement. The ALMS uses what I refer to as the FIA approach.

The GT1 pictures shows that the factory doesn't use an X-brace on the rear cage legs. Here's another example.

Here's an example of what Porsche is doing with the door area.

The Ferrari cage is even more interesting.

None of the examples here seem to be using Tegris but I think that's mandatory now in NASCAR. That's for side impact and intrustion.

I prefer the NASCAR method of keeping the cars as far away from me as possible. We have done the "X" on the passenger side, but prefer this style.

Yea, I would like to keep another car as far as possible from me. What you don't see in the Pratt cars are unbelievably expensive carbon crash box's. I am sure if someone had 600,000 to 1,000,000 to spend building a car they would go that way also. There are many ways to skin a cat, this is one of them that is safer than building the cage right up on you.

So will the car be ready for Randy by the first council school/test in a few weeks? Are either of you planning on running that day?

I thought you couldn't even get a log book with SCCA or NASA without "NASCAR" door bars these days? I'm worried they're going to make me update my passenger side!

No, NASCAR bars are suggested, not required. The GCR is in need of an update here as they have no pictures of what NASCAR bars are in the book. In fact, I had a minor argument with the tech inspector who said the door bars attaching to the frame gave me more then the maximum attaching points. I had to show him what NASCAR door bars were and he passed it.
