Default Dates at WGI - who's goin when?

A bunch of us Canadians are looking to go to WGI often this season. We ran with PDA and met alot of you last year and had an amazing time. This year we only see a couple events with PDA at WGI so I'm looking for some help from all of you.

Whos running at WGI and with who? Contact info and calendars would be great

We are running with SCDA a bunch of times this year at WGI. First date is April 27th I believe and then in July.

SCDA is a very good group which runs a safe event and gives a good amount of track time.

If you are an open track guy, confident you can get through a rigorous checkout ride, then Trackmasters is the ticket. 4.5 hrs/day of track time. They have become quite selective to control the quality of the open track experience. Looking mostly for situational awareness (as well as manners) and consistency.

Another fun group to run with is Phoenixcmr. They are a bit cheaper and you get 4-40 minute sessions/day.

Both groups have websites with www and com surrounding their names. The Phoenix site is quite lame, do not let that colour (for the Canadians) your impression of the experience they provide.

I have no affiliation with either group beyond instructing for them.

I'm planning to attend the Aug 17-18 event with Phoenixcmr.

Hi,

Trackmasters is the hot ticket if you can check out. I started with them as a novice and now do open track. You need to be very competent and relatively fast as it's a strong group. They are the best there is for WGI.

PhoenixCMR is also very good for intermediate solo drivers. Lot's of good folks and drivers. Can't speak to their instruction as I have only gone solo.

These are the clubs I will be at for 2009.

Cheers!

April 29 and 30 Hooked on Driving.
May 1st, 2nd, 3rd Trackmasters Open Track - Can't sign up if you haven't been approved before. New people can only sign up when there is a school in case they don't pass their check ride.
May 4th and 5th PDA.
May 9th and 10th (A weekend) Genese Valley Chapter BMW Club (excellent group)
June 1st and 2nd Phoenix CMR.

I will be instructing with HOD, PDA and Phoenix.

Any ideas on the Sept.-Oct. dates? Or these haven't been planned yet? I guess we can look up the diff. clubs now that they are named.
Thanks!

Hi Steve,

I agree with the Trackmasters recommendations. Really good and fast group. The only problem is that they run mostly during the week. Look at their site, Trackmasters.com and see what dates would work for you guys. I'm running with them on May 3 & 4 and with PDA May 5 & 6. Hope to see you there.

Jose.

PS. Tell the other Steve that I got an RV.

I would like to do Trackmasters but there only so many things you can do in a period of time. The entry post mark date for the BMW club is this Friday and I am debating about not doing that one as well but I really enjoy their events.

Hey Jose, will you be bringing the RV in May?, if so, we'll come hang out at your site on Sunday night if you are there.

Lauri (Wyckd 1), Greg (1 Bd Rsk) and I sent Joe at PDA our registration for May 4th so we'll see you there then. I would love to attend a date with trackmasters and hopefully get signed off, sounds like they are a great group. What do they do for sign off? is it just a ride along for a couple sessions?

Bill (Dearborn), we'll see you there as well...

Thanks to all that have responded, I now have a few clubs to check, I'd love it if you guys could come up to Mosport for an event. If you are interested, We'll help arrange it.

If the CWA doesn't go on strike in April, I will be at WGA with Hooked as an instructor. If they go on strike, then all our vacation time is revoked and I am out.

I hope to be there on the 28th & 29th and looking for an early heat wave to bump the temps at WGI. Snow in even late April is always possible.

Keith,
Are you going to instruct with the BMW club this year? By the way if I remember correctly those tires are 17 inchers. I am moving to 18s this year.

Another set of 18 inch Z06 wheels are supposed to be delivered today and I am looking for tires in those sizes.

The tires are R compound Hoosier 315x17's. I have five, that are just taking up space in the garage - I'm on all 18's now as well.

Schedule looks like:
May 2,3 Trackmasters
June 1,2 - Phoenix CMR
July 26-28 - BMW Club at Mosport
August 17,18 - Phoenix CMR
August 31, Sept 1 - Trackmasters
October 7->8 - Trackmasters

Hopefully something else in the June-July area

Go to this URL: http://gvc-bmwcca.org/ to pre-register. You will have to create an account. The applications have to be mailed in. They give you a mailing date when the applications should be mailed and they go by the post mark on the letter to determine which ones are looked at first.

Ran with your Canadian cars last year--good fun. This year: May2/3 TM, Sep 7/9 CMS, Oct7/8 TM. If you like WGI you'll LOVE VIR and the new tracks in New Jersey.
