The Z06 cooler works. I went through two pumps and racks in my Coupe while tracking it. Chevy replaced the first system N/C, but gave me a hard time about the second one (less than 9 months later.) They insisted that I have a Z06 cooler installed before they would cover the second set. Since then, no problems.

I just bought a Turn 1 pws pump for mine, so we shall see.
The tradeoff should be more steering input nec. at slow speeds, but less power asst. at high speeds. Lets hope the "should" part of that statement becomes fact. Less asst, less heat. There has been a lot of talk on here about this problem, everything from particular brand name racks, fluids, add'l coolers, etc. This pump just brings up an add'l opportunity.

I bought a new rack last year and used the turn 1 pump. I also added drm steering bushing which improved the feel.
For a cooler I have 2 from c6s.
I also use Joe Gibbs ps fluid

Anyone know what the threads are in the steering rack where the return line attaches? I'm thinking about moving my factory cooler from the stock location on the crossmember to free up some space and I would need to convert to AN fittings to make it simpler.

Turn One is proud to offer Joe Gibbs Racing Power Steering Fluid! This fully synthetic power steering fluid offers improved pressure stability over a wide temperature range for more consistent steering input response. PSF also features unique heat rejection characteristics that enables the fluid to run cooler.

I put a huge cooler in years back after cooking the fluid all the time and having it blow out all the time. I do run / rev the motor much higher than most and since I installed it no more cooling problems.

trackboss,
I did what you were suggesting. I have no clue what the thread pitch is, but the shop whose work I had to redo used English fittings or something like that in the rack to mount the AN fittings. I used a Lingenfelter oil cooler mount to put my Setrab cooler on the crossmember. It mounts the cooler toward the passenger side of the crossmember. Good luck.

My 98 coupe didn't come with a cooler. After two track days the OEM pump failed. I've replaced it with the Turnone part number T40Y (no cooler still) and have had no issues. I've now done 3-4 track events and some autox events as well. I'm running street tires.

for those interested the threads in the rack are metric. I didn't ask the size as turn one has them and I simply ordered a set. Lines are -6 on pressure and return when converting to AN. Super nice people over at turn one.
