Default Guys; I need tire help.....

Just got my new wheels and sensors for my C-5 Vert and now I'm ready to order some tires, which is where you guys come in. I don't know if I should get street tires, Drag Radials or Autocross tires or what. Here is my driving and what I drive. 2004 Corvette convertible with Headers out to Borla Stingers, P.I. torque converter, 2800 stall, 373 gears and Predator Tuned. It ran 12.72 @ 110 mph, couldn't give it the gas for about 100 feet because of the runcraps. Wheels are 17x9.5 and 18x10.5. I like to take trips 1000 to 2000 miles about once a year, also once a year I like to go to the drag strip. I got traction problems so do I get D. R. full time, will it perform OK on the trips, I don't care how many miles I get on the tires, but I like the curves in the mountains too. Do I get auto cross tires? Or just street tires? Please help guys, I'm depending on you. ......bob.

You aren't making a ton of power (indicated by your 110 trap) but depending on how old your current tire are there could be a huge performance gain just by putting NEW rubber on there. since you only go to the strip once a year I wouldn't get a DR, you wouldn't enjoy carving the corners or driving in the rain on that tire.

I would suggest looking into the Nitto 555RII, but it might be a little overkill on your setup. I have them on my z06 and really like how they perform but I don't do any drag racing with them. You can also research the NT-05 and the 555R, either one of those MAY be a better fit. Also look into the Falkin RT-615's. I never used them but from what I've seen its an inexpensive tire that might be more suited for your power/driving.

I have the Vredesteins. Great all round tire for the money. I dd mine, track 5-10 times a year, and do dragstrip once in a while. I have only driven in the rain in them one time, but no problems there either. I had BFG KDs before and really liked them, but a bit more expensive. A lot of good choices out there.

I've got a pair of nearly new goodyears GS-D3 in 295/35-18 that would work well for your rears. I have a single front in 275, but its also for an 18". $150 per tire if you are interested.

Thanks Guys;

I went with the Nitto 555 R2's in 305/35/18 in the back and the Nitto NT-05, 275/40/17 in the front. I'll let you know how it works out. Right now it just snowed in Michigan so I'll do a little more work on the Vette..... Thanks to all......bob.
